Advantages: Tastey, cheap
Disadvantages: High in sugar
I purchased a packet containing six Cadbury's brunch bars, for just 99p from my local Morrisons - which was a really good deal.
I had not tried these before and thought they might be nice to take to work to eat at my desk when I get hungry, instead of a packet of crisps or a chocolate bar.
They were located with the cereal bars in the supermarket, and came in a purple coloured box - the same colour as a dairy milk bar which makes you associate them with yummy chocolate - however also on the box is a picture of raisins, oats and flakes which conjours up a healthier image.
So are they healthy or not?
I have checked the nutritional content and each 35g bar contains:
150 calories
14.8g sugars
5.4g fat
2.8g saturated fat.
They are not too good for you - low calorie but high in sugars and quite high in fat.
Eating a Brunch bar would definately be better than eating a bar of chocolate, but not as good as having a banana ;)
Now to the important bit - the taste.
Biting into the bar, I found a lovely texture. The top half is oaty and crunchy, with the lower half being covered in delicious Cadburys milk chocolate. Mixed in with the oats are tastey, chewey raisins which add to the gorgeous texture and beautiful taste.
I really enjoyed eating the Brunch bar, and find it a lot more filling and satisfying than a lot of other cereal bars - probablly due to the chocolate covering.
Overall, I am very happy with these bars and would most definately buy them again. The price is right, and the taste is right so if there is sugars in it I don't really care.
A great little snack to keep me full up between meals.
Summary: Lovely, filling snack.
