Advantages: versatile

Disadvantages: chocolate melts

The original chocolate fingers were made by the Burton food group which was formed in 1939, in 1986 Burton merged with Cadbury’s and these fingers are marketed under their name.
I really do not know when the first chocolate finger biscuit became available but, these biscuits have been available for many, many years a tea time party treat at birthday parties for must be at least half a century. I can not remember a time that there were not any available in the shops or at birthday parties

I am sure they have changed a little since then I remember them as bigger. These chocolate fingers are about the diameter of an adult little finger and a little longer than the little finger, sorry I have none here to measure accurately. The description fits them well as they are a rounded biscuit similar to a finger size. (I am of course talking about the standard sized chocolate fingers I believe there is a larger variety available now.)

When I was a child of course there was only the standard milk chocolate finger biscuit available now in the Cadbury finger biscuit range there is a milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate caramel and crunchy variety as well as the giant finger. There are also mini finger biscuits available usually come in a pack designed for snacks.

Now since I am most familiar with the standard milk choc finger that is what I will tell you about.
These chocolate fingers are usually very easy to find most supermarkets stock them and corner shops as do Tesco. (I always use Tesco as my benchmark for prices, most of us know Tesco and their prices are in about the same range as other supermarkets sometimes a penny or two more sometimes a penny or two less) are selling the milk fingers for £1.07 for a 150g box or £2.29p for 375g box You are in luck if you want to stock up with these for Christmas though as there is a buy one get one free on the smaller 15og boxes. The different types of Cadbury chocolate finger biscuits are about the same price maybe a penny more expensive.

These biscuits are in a purple blue plastic wrapper package with the word Fingers across it. Inside the wrapper is a black plastic tray that holds the finger biscuits. In the pack are about 28 biscuits I think I counted once.

Now I do like Cadbury chocolate finger biscuits , The Cadbury chocolate is always good not cheap and nasty like some own brands. There is a reasonable coating of chocolate over the finger biscuit. These biscuits are like a cylindrical finger not a flat finger like you might call a finger of toast .So now lets take a bite off the biscuit now no sucking we don’t want a chocolaty mess . (as with all chocolate the chocolate covering will melt if you get it warm (good key stage one science experiment show class the lovely choc fingers say you will treat them at the end of lesson put choc fingers on radiator and at end of lesson present children with the finger biscuits with chocolate melted ask them what has happened and why?.
Ok, so you have taken a bite and savoured the chocolate, you bite through the inner biscuit there is a thin shortcake finger of biscuit inside it is crisp and hard not too hard for little teeth to bite through.
This chocolate finger biscuit is good. Smooth creamy chocolate on the outside plain shortcake like biscuit centre. Lets take another bite, yum and another bite, oopps my hands must have been warm they are all chocolaty one more bite and I have finished the biscuit how many bites does it take you to eat a Cadbury’s chocolate finger biscuit it took me 4, now, now no do not put the whole biscuit in one go dear its not very clever, I sometimes like to just take little nibbles from one of these biscuits to see how long I can make it last.

Yes I think we all like chocolate finger biscuit Cadbury’s so keep on making them.

These chocolate finger biscuits are super for decorating bday or Christmas cake’s. A simple one is a round chocolate sponge with chocolate butter cream or icing covering it. Now open your box of chocolate fingers and stick them to the circumference outside of the cake, looks a bit like a chocolate crown. The upper surface of the cake can be decorated with iced flowers or fruit if you wish.

Fancy a log cabin cake for your Christmas party? Bake or buy a loaf tin shaped cake, cover it in icing and stick chocolate fingers around it for the outside walls. Put chocolate fingers on the top of the cake for the roof the shorter fingers might be best. If you wish make the roof separately by cutting another loaf shaped cake diagonally so it looks like a roof top cover this with icing and stick the chocolate fingers on this then put the roof on the cabin. for a chimney pot could use mini chocolate roll or some liquorice allsorts To put windows door on your cabin put either flat biscuits on for the door or use liquorice allsorts good for doors or windows on cake ,. . You could roll some marzipan out and cut this for shapes for window and door, be creative see what biscuits sweets look the right size shape.
Place the cake on a cake board either before or after you have put the finger logs on and sprinkle a little icing sugar onto the cake to make it look like it has snowed. Decorate the cake board make it into a winter scene with icing sugar and cake decorations

Chocolate fingers are useful for decorating children’s cakes I have made arms / legs for people cakes , used these biscuits on train cakes they are very useful . and tasty

Summary: chocolate covered shortbread finger biscuits
