Advantages: Really great taste
Disadvantages: I always eat too many
Cadbury's are perhaps the best chocolate makers there are and one of their best products in my opinion is Cadbury's Chocolate Fingers. These have been around for years now and they have always been one of my favourite chocolates/biscuits. I think you'd find it extremely difficult to find anybody who hasn't tried some form of Cadbury's chocolate and most people will have also tried Chocolate Fingers. I generally have very high expectations from Cadbury because of their brilliant reputation so when I buy a product from them I expect it to be really good. I wasn't let down here, this product lives up to all the expectations.
Cadbury Chocolate Fingers come in a purple and red box on the front of which there is currently a picture of several Chocolate Fingers stood on end except for one which is in the process of falling over and you just know it will have the domino effect and knock all the others over as well. There's a reason behind this picture, it's to show that "one may lead to another" as it says underneath the picture, they're right you can never just eat one. The front of the packet also has the Cadbury's logo on it. On the back you can find the ingredients and the nutritional information. The box comes in two sizes, you can get the one that has two trays or the one that only has one, I recommend the 2 tray one for if you're going to have to share with lots of people but otherwise the one tray box is a good idea or you'll find you've eaten far, far too many! I bought the box containing 1 tray for my husband & I to share, it cost me £1.38 from Tesco and contained 125g of lovely chocolate.
I like to include the ingredients in reviews because it is helpful to people who suffer from food and lets you know whether or not a food is full of junk. So the ingredients are:
Dark Chocolate (48%) (Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Milk Fat, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin)), Wheat Flour, Vegetable Fat, Sugar, Partially Inverted Sugar Syrup, Salt, Raising Agents (Ammonium Bicarbonate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Flavouring
Unfortunately these do contain wheat and milk plus they may they may contain nuts. On the positive side though, they are suitable for vegetarians. The nutritional values are not good news, each finger contains:
Calories:
25kcal, 1% of your GDA
Sugar:
1.7g, 2% of your GDA
Fat:
1.4g, 2% of your GDA
Saturates:
0.8g, 4% of your GDA
Salt:
Trace, <1% of your GDA
I always end up eating about half the box so this is really bad news for me and for a lot of other people I'm sure, try not to eat too many of them too often. Once you open the box and slide out the tray you'll see that it is wrapped in plastic which is great at keeping the Fingers fresh. Each chocolate finger is about 6cms long I think although they are never around long enough for me to actually measure them so I can't be sure.
Basically a Chocolate Finger is a long thin piece of biscuit coated in chocolate, delicious. They smell nicely of Cadbury Chocolate, you'll know the smell and the taste of this if you've eaten it before. I'm not quite sure what type of biscuit it is, it seems to be a cross between Rich Tea and Digestive but whatever it is tastes nice and not too sweet, it has a light crunch to it as well which goes well with the chocolate. The chocolate is the typical Cadbury's chocolate, i.e. delicious!!! It has a sooth texture and melts in your mouth plus it has a wonderful milky taste. There is plenty of chocolate, 48% of the treat is in fact chocolate which I am very happy about as a lot of biscuits from other brands just don't have enough chocolate on them.
There are several ways to eat these. The most obvious of which is to simply bite into it and eat the chocolate and biscuit together, this will give you a nice mixture of the smooth creamy chocolate and the crunchy biscuit which go very well together. The second way is to nibble off all of the chocolate and then to eat the biscuit. There are other ways I'm sure so have fun and experiment.
Overall I think that these are a great treat and I often buy them for friends as a birthday present. I'd happily eat a box myself as they are so good but they are not healthy so I try to limit the amount I eat, I recommend you do the same. These are a really tasty treat and great for sharing at a party, 10 out of 10.
Summary: Go on have a finger
