Advantages: Cadbury Chocolate, Sugary Goo

Disadvantages: Too Little, Over Priced, Limited Availability

I doubt there are too many people in this country who haven't heard of a Cadbury Crème Egg. Cadbury have been making these since I was young (ish) in the seventies and they're as popular now as they were back then.

Crème Eggs are little chocolate hollow eggs made from smooth Cadbury milk chocolate (the same kind as they use in Dairy Milk bars). They're filled with a gorgeous gooey fondant centre that's really rich and sugary. The fondant is mostly white but there's an orangey-yellow blob of colouring in the centre to give it an egg effect.

Crème Eggs are quite small these days, despite the price continually going up! Once there was a time when you could eat just one and be stuffed silly but now you're left wanting more afterwards (well I am). They're really thick and sludgy and give you a good combination of chocolate and sugar hit together.

Normally you get a small individual egg for just under 50p from shops though they are often sold seasonally in the run up to Easter. It seems to depend on when you can buy them to be honest but you'll know when they're "in season" because you'll notice they're sold in trays as they don't really sit on shelves very well! You can also get bags of mini ones at Easter though I've noticed the big ones are sold much more often than the mini ones.

If you can't find a Crème Egg when you want one, they do a Crème Egg Dairy Milk bar instead for the same price but with more chocolate than goo filling. This is now being changed to the Crème Egg Twister bar though so look out for that in shops instead.

I can only give these three stars despite the lovely taste. Firstly I can't always get these because they're sold seasonally by a lot of shops and secondly they're far smaller than they used to be. At nearly 50p each that's a bit on the expensive really. You can get a much more filling bar for the same price.

Summary: Not Just for Easter!
