Advantages: OK if on special offer
Disadvantages: Not as good as a normal bar
I do try to resist but it is like the Sirens calling to Odysseus and without a faithful crew to tie me to a mast I'm lured to the chocolate aisle at Tesco despite my best intentions and I slowly succumb to the lure of the chocolate bar.
I have always been a fan of Crunchie bars and so when I saw the fact that they now sold Crunchie Nuggets and that two bags were on offer for £1.60 I decided to take the plunge. Each bag is 150g in size which is an annoying amount for a glutton like me because eating enough to satisfy my craving means that there is not a lot left in the bag so hence I convince myself I might as well polish them off and then I feel ill, now I could share them with the fruits of my loins I hear you say but what would be the point as it would only lead to tooth decay and obesity, no in my sacrifice I'm saving them to die from global warming and the water wars that are coming soon to a country near you.
So to the product, well these are small irregular shapes of milk chocolate with the Crunchie honeycomb filling on the inside, the pieces vary in shape or size with some really small pieces that are the size of a garden pea if not slightly smaller up to pieces that are bigger than two squares of chocolate. The inside is not solid honeycomb rather it is small chunks surrounded by chocolate, imagine the Crunchie bar without the chocolate coating and then smashed into bits which are then covered in chocolate however some bits stick together to make a larger piece.
Overall you get more chocolate eating them this way and the fact that the taste of Cadbury dairy milk is one I like this is a good thing. The honeycomb centre has a hard texture and is very crisp when you bite into it. The flavour is very sweet with a slight bubbling sensation in the mouth from the honeycomb centre. It is quite nice to let them melt in your mouth so that the chocolate melts away and then you are left with the honeycomb which will have a smooth side to it and also the ridged texture of the inside. I like to eat them this way but then I also put my chocolate in the freezer before eating it so allowing it to melt makes it ore enjoyable.
Overall this product represents good value at 80 pence a packet while on special offer but I would not pay the normal retail price which in my Tesco is £1.04 as I did not find it as enjoyable as a normal bar of Crunchie or the 230 gram bars of Dairy Milk with Crunchie pieces in them, both of these are better products in my opinion.
Thanks for reading and rating my review.
