Advantages: Nuts, Tastes nice

Disadvantages: You may be allergic to nuts, ...or chocolate

Today was a sad day. Having been with us for the last few days, my ma and pa in law finally had to leave. With a tear in my eye, I bade farewell to my crocodile-wrestling mother-in-law as she headed off for challenges afresh. However, in a rare moment of weakness, she slipped me one before she left. Now this may conjure up some rather unsavoury images for a few on Dooyoo but rest assured it's a few blocks of Cadbury's Fruit & Nut we are talking about here as opposed to anything more incestuous-in-lawish <<Several readers mop their beady brows>>

Soooooo...anyway, equipped with my ill gotten family gains, I couldn't help but sling together another Pulitzer prize winning reeeeeeview for all my chums online. Hmmmmm...<<stares at the packet and ponders whether to watch Chelsea v Newcastle instead>>...

***Company***
Crikey, everybody must have heard of Cadbury as some stage, unless you're a Welsh sheep herder on holiday in the Mendips. Cadbury have been around for donkey's years. If you want to read all about 'em, they have a quite snazzy web site at http://www.cadbury.co.uk/. Suffice to say, they are one of the world's leading brands and a huge brand player in their market.

***Packaging***
Well, as my some of my more suggestive friends will tell you, your packet and its appearance counts for a lot. Well, I assume they was talking about product packaging as opposed to any other more sexual connotations So this beauty has a rather purple type of blue packet with Cadburys emblazoned across the top and the words fruit and nut in bold red. There are pictures on the front of grapes and almonds, suggesting that there's more to this product than just yer run-of-the-mill chocolate.

The combination of the words Cadbury and fruit and nut are so that the purchaser has a clue that the product is, in fact, Cadbury fruit and nut. There's also some fruit and nuts as a further visual stimulus as
well as a block of chocolate with 2 jugs of milk being poured into it. The inference is that this is milk chocolate with plenty of..erm...milk in it.

***The pour***
Well, as it's chocolate then it?s quite difficult to pour unless it?s in its pre-solid state so you?d have to visit the factory to see what the pour is like. I understand it's sort of thick and syrupy. Alternatively, you could melt the chocolate and pour it into some sort of vessel ready to be creative.

***The taste***
Cadbury's fruit and nut is milk chocolate with raisons and almonds. Cadbury is most people's favourite brand of chocolate and it is especially nice with raisons, but nuts usually bring a mixed reaction, eeeeeeespecially if you are allergic to 'em...

As I opened my orifice, the chocolate slipped in rather nicely. There's plenty of nuts to roll your tongue over although they can get stuck in your teeth a wee bit (write your own gag). The chocolate's dashed nice with that top quality age-old choccie making process in full swing. Cadbury fruit and nut can be eaten anywhere at any time. I mean, I ate my few slabs this morning so how daring is that? Most folks will eat choccie between meals unless you're a chocoholic in which case you should seek further counselling. Chocoholism is becoming almost as serious as 'isms these days with clinics sprouting up all over the country. There's even one in Northampton where I see people with their coats draped over their heads, slinking in through the front door with bars of chocolate hanging out of their pockets. One can only hope that they get the help they crave.

***Contents***
The packet proclaims the existence of raisons and almonds and who am I too argue? I can definitely taste nuts and rather pleasant they are too.

***Conclusion***
Cadbury Fruit & Nut is available at most food shops and major supermarkets. A 200g bar costs around £1 at most places although I seem to remember slipping this one into my trolley for £1.08 from Tesco. As a rule, you can't go wrong with Cadbury and this is one of the company's long-standing, popular brands. A MUST for chocoholics everywhere including my erst-while ma-in-law who likes to look after her son-in-law..

This review is based on a 200g bar retailing at £1.08 from my local Tesco.

Thanks for reading and have a nice weekend, won'tcha?
