Advantages: Taste yummy, look authentic

Disadvantages: None

It's nearly Easter and apart from the resurrection of Jesus (I do think this is the most important message of Easter just like the birth of Jesus is the most important thing about Christmas) the second best thing about Easter has to be the chocolate and by chocolate I mean mini eggs in particular!

Cadburys mini eggs are described by Cadburys as, "tempting solid milk chocolate eggs in a crisp candy shell." Very tempting indeed I say. Each egg is probably only about a centimeter tall, hence why they are called mini eggs and is in the shape of an egg so its a little bit bigger at the base. When you buy a bag of mini eggs you get lots of different colours inside although they all taste the same, they do not have a flavour attached to them. The different colours they come in are purple, pink, brown, white and yellow. Also on the shell they have a speckled pattern to them, a lot like you would find on a speckled egg. I think Cadburys have done a really good job on this by making them look very authentic and adding to the appeal of them.

The outside candy shell is quite thin and crunchy so when you bite into it it crumbles and gives the chocolate a nice consistency and a bit different of a taste in your mouth. Inside the chocolate is a lovely thick solid piece of good quality Cadbury's chocolate. To me it tastes like Dairy Milk, a good quality, plain milk chocolate. You know it's good chocolate because Cadburys use a glass and a half of fresh milk in every half pound of milk chocolate and proper cocoa beans so the chocolate itself is amazing and creamy.

A bag of mini eggs is very easy to spot. THey come in a bright yellow wrapper with the Cadburys logo and mini eggs written on it with a picture of some of the eggs too. I think the bag looks lovely and sunny and definitely very fitting for Easter/Spring time.

At the moment Sainsburys are selling 2 100g bags of mini eggs for £1.80. They are usually £0.99 each so a bit of a savings. As it is so near to Easter a lot of shops to have some great deals on them. YOu can also buy them in tubes which mane a nice Easter gift or big 400g bags but be careful, you will be tempted to eat the whole thing!

The great thing about these mini eggs is that they can be used for lots of different things. I like to add them to Rice crispie cakes that I make in the shape of a nest to give the nest an authentic look and a fun dessert. They are also great little Easter basket fillers too.

Each egg contains 15 calories and 0.7g of fat so not too bad unless like I've said above you eat the whole bag. In any case pick up a bag today and enjoy a great chocolate filled Easter!
