Advantages: Wonderful taste, not TOO unhealthy...

Disadvantages: Only around during Easter, not enough in a packet

Over Easter, my local corner shop was selling these in a deal of 3 for £1 (which is very good both because it was from a corner shop, and because they retail for about 55p each). Naturally, as a self confessed chocolic, I simply had to have them.

The packaging is very appealing, and Mini Eggs are something of a British past-time around Easter. You'll likely see the packaging coming from a mile away, and if being nothing more than a tasty treat, they are also normally the first sign to me (along with Cadbury's Creme Eggs) that Easter is here.

From the very second you open the packet, the smell is absolutely intoxicating, yet is just sweet enough not to be saccharine. I call it "the smell of Easter". The eggs are small, spotted things that look just like a scaled-down version of a bird egg, and range in colour, from pink, to purple, to yellow, to blue. They have a crispy shell and contain solid chocolate inside.

Considering how absolutely wonderful they taste, they're not actually that bad for you. They set you back 15 calories per egg, and considering that there aren't really that many in a bag, it's not too much of a damage. The real challenge, of course, is just limiting yourself to merely a bag a day...or two.

There are only two setbacks with these tasty treats - Cadbury's don't tend to keep manufacturing them all year round. I guess that their market model relies on them selling an absurd amount of them during a niche market period of a month or two, whereas all year round they wouldn't sell as much. Still, these, as well as Cadbury's Creme Eggs are sorely missed for the other 10 months of the year.

Secondly, I do find that there simply aren't enough mini eggs in a packet. If it weren't for the fact that they were simply so cheap, I'd be pretty peeved, but I can let it go, especially when I managed to catch them in such a great deal over Easter. In short: I don't know anyone that doesn't love these.

Summary: A treat that leaves you wanting more
