Advantages: Very very tasty

Disadvantages: high in sugar

There is something about a Cadbury's mini roll that you just can't beat. Over the years I have tried many own brands just to see if they measure up to the master, but I'm afraid to say that in the battle of the mini rolls, all other pretenders to the throne are sadly lacking and therefore there can only be one mini roll of choice and that has to be Cadbury's!

Mini Rolls come in packs of six with that distinctive Cadbury's logo and purple wrapper. Each roll is also individually wrapped which means that they will retain their freshness for longer. I have to say that that is not really an issue in our house though as we never seem to keep them long enough to test the freshness!

The description of the mini roll is 'a chocolate flavoured sponge with vanilla flavour filling covered with milk chocolate'. This is a very successful combination and of course the chocolate is Cadbury's so you just know that it is going to be good! They are also very attractive to look at - your very own individual chocolate covered Swiss roll!

It always has to be about taste though and it is in this area that all other pretenders come nowhere near the mark. I do like to eat my mini rolls very slowly and savour every mouthful as they really are delicious. As you bite into one, the first thing that you notice is that the fairly thick chocolate covering does have a tendency to crumble in your mouth. This is good as it makes way for the delicious evenly textured chocolate sponge and my favourite - the vanilla filling. It is not cream but it just melts away in your mouth and it tastes sooo good! The combination of all three elements works together so well but for me there is one big problem! It only takes about three or four mouthfuls and the mini roll is gone and I am always left wanting more. I think they need to make a bigger size mini roll like the Kit Kat Chunky!

The other thing to bear in mind is the nutritional values which I always take notice of. As far as calories are concerned with 120, which is 6% of your guideline daily allowance (GDA) it is not too bad. However, fat at 6.2g (8.9%), saturates at 3.1g (15.5%) and sugars at 12.5g (13.8%) the mini rolls suddenly loses its appeal except for the occasional snack which is a shame as it is so tasty. My daughters think so too but I really need to restrict their intake of such sweet things too (luckily they are fruit lovers as well!). So Cadbury's mini rolls are very tasty but not that healthy but I do recommend them for an occasional treat.

The packets of six are sold in Sainsbury's for £1.35, although at the moment you can buy two for £2 which includes combining these with some other Cadbury cake bars if you wish!

Summary: I love them!

I ate too many of these as a kid, so quite dislike them now, lol.
