Advantages: Taste perfection.

Disadvantages: Fat and calories.

I was off on a long train journey the other day to visit a friend at university so before I boarded I was making careful choices of which magazines and sweets I would take with me. I selected a fashion mag, and Closer, picked up a bottle of diet coke and then started to check out the sweets. I have a few favourites when it comes to chocolate bars (some of which I have already reviewed) but out of the corner of my eye I spied a bar that I had not had in the longest time, A Cadbury star bar.

The main reason I do not eat this sweet more often is that they are not as easy to find in shops as the regular things like Twix, Snickers and Mars bars. This was the first time I had seen one in ages and memories of how good they were came rushing back. So with the reading matter picked, the sandwiches chosen and the bottle of diet coke in hand it was a Star bar to join it and I was ready for the off.

A Star bar for those who do not know is a bar containing a chewy golden caramel centre packed with tiny pieces of finely ground down peanuts and covered in delicious smooth Cadbury chocolate. My biggest problem with other chocolates containing peanuts is that the peanut taste takes over but with the star bar the taste is split three ways to perfection, you firstly get the delicious chocolate on your tongue then the caramel as you bite through then the tiny peanut pieces begin to entice your taste buds, it really is chocolate heaven.

A Star bar will cost you no more or no less than your average chocolate bar (around 45p most places) but will not only taste better but will leave you feeling more satisfied then other bars also. As well as the bar being crammed with peanuts it is also unfortunately crammed with fat and calories so unfortunately if you want to keep the weight at bay then these have to be a treat not a way of life which is sad because they can be very moreish and once you find a store that stocks them you will find yourself returning on a regular basis!
