Advantages: Too many to list!
Disadvantages: Are you mad?? None!!!
Cadbury's Wispa is a chocolate that reminds me of my childhood! That's because when I was a little younger it was readily available at all cornershops, sweetshops and general supermarkets. Unfortunately however, it came off the shelves some time ago (2003 I believe).
Thankfully though, Cadbury's decided to reintroduce Wispa as it was an incredibly popular chocolate and in the end, it was an internet campaign in 2007 that convinced them to bring it back. And I'm glad they did. To be honest I am not really sure why they took it away in the first place if it was so loved.
Now, just so you know I'm not a chocolate addict of any sort, and therefore I think my love of Wispa exemplifies that it really is a fabulous product/chocolate!
The chocolate itself is milk chocolate but it's not manufactured as a simple block of solid chocolate i.e it does not have a consistency like that of the Dairy Milk bars you can get (which are also made by Cadbury's). If you have never tasted Wispa before, the best way to describe it is to say that it's texture is most resembled by Aero. And if you've never had Aero before.... well where you been?? Just kidding!
Both Wispa and Aero are formed with tiny bubbles inside the chocolate. For me this is the feature of Aero that makes it stand out and that makes it exceptionally yummy. I think it's a bit difficult to describe what it's like to have a bite, but I'll try!!
When you sink your teeth into a Wispa bar, it feels quite light and doesn't take much jaw-power to bite a bit off. In fact, because of all the really tiny bubbles (the bubbles are smaller than in Aero I should add) it is a little bit sponge-like. So - you've bitten a bit off, and now the scrumptious chocolate is in your mouth! Well this is when you realise just how sensitive your tongue is as you can really feel the glorious texture, again, very sponge-like and a little bit crumbly too. Yum, I want some now!!
One of the nice things about Wispa is that it is made in just the right size. And whilst a bar of the stuff seems to be fairly unhealthy with around 200 calories and 10 g of fat, you have to remember that chocolate, in general, usually does contain a high amount of fat. In addition, if eaten as an occasional treat I don't think it will do you any harm!
Wispa retails at around 40-50p per bar and these days you are most likely to find it in large supermarkets although I have seen it in a few newsagents too!
Summary: Yum
