Advantages: Goes nicely with a cup of coffee in the afternoon.

Disadvantages: None as long as you only have one finger at a time.

Cadbury Fudge is of the longest oldest running sweet confections that still lies proudly upon the sweet shelves of Britain. A finger of fudge became famous with the catchy song and rhyme played out during the advert on TV ( I'll refrain from reproducing it here as it would only bring a tear to my eye). Cadbury Fudge is sometimes now referred to as a retro classic. While other sweet snacks have come and gone the finger of fudge just marches on. The finger of fudge has survived many a credit crunch and no doubt will survive this one.

Cadburys Fudge takes the form of a slender bar of fudge covered in ripples of milk chocolate with a flat underside. The fudged finger is about four and a half inches in length with a circumference of about half an inch.

They go nicely with a cup of coffee in the afternoon. Not the healthiest of snacks but as my secretary often says during lunch break: "it's hard to resist a chocolate fudge finger". I can only nod my head in agreement to that one for we all deserve our guilty pleasures from time to time. One finger should provide ample satisfaction. Two fingers would be highly offensive. Three fingers would just be silly.

The fingered fudge is firm to the bite but not too hard when chewed in the mouth. Upon mastication the fudge texture becomes warm and creamy with the chocolate only providing a background flavour. The sensation is one of mild excitement that evokes a certain nostalgia for childhood.

A Cadburys fudge six pack costs about 75p in Tesco.

Summary: Fingered fudge lingers on proudly through the decades
