Advantages: taste
Disadvantages: not as nice as original
When we eat Flakes, we inevitably get bits of chocolate on us. This is due to the texture, and so some genius has decided to cover them in smooth chocolate on the outside (isn't that what a Twirl is?)
Cadbury's chocolate has long been at the fore-front of choco-holic heaven. With its emphasis on creamy richness, and a luxurious experience, the whole range is just stunningly tastey. The Flake uses standard Cadbury's chocolate and does something great with it.
Back in the 1920s, a Cadburys worker overfilled a chocolate mould, and the result was a multi-layered bar like the Flake. Right then, a bar of epic proportions was born.
The Flake is a crumbly, flaky chocolate bar made up of tiny paper thin layers of chocolate folded back and forth on each-other. Costing aroun 40p for a six inch bar, it's competitively priced against other bars, and yet has one advantage: the taste.
With a Flake, you bite it off and the brittle shards of chocolate goodness spread all around your mouth and tongue, stimulating a wider number of taste-buds. The result is that you're eating the same amount of chocolate, but getting much more taste sensation from it. However, the Flake Dipped does this to a much lesser extent than the original Flake, and so it's definitely not as enjoyable. Yes, you end up with less chocolate falling about, but that's the same for in your mouth too, which is a shame.
The ingredients are pretty normal for chocolate:
Milk - Sugar - Cocoa Butter - Cocoa Mass - Vegetable Fat - Flavourings - Emulsifier (E442) - 170 Calories - 0.09g Salt -
Clearly, there's nothing new or exciting going on here, but it's the physical design of the bar that makes it so nice.
In conclusion,a delicious bar that gives maximum taste, but can create quite a mess too.
Summary: up to you

- 15/06/09 Yes, Rosebud, but you get 2 fingers with a Twirl. Not that I'm fussed - I'll eat either, both,... |

- 15/06/09 A Twirl is smaller and doesn't give the sheer chocolate hit you get with a Dipped Flake. Needless to say, I love this bar! |
