Advantages: good chocolate

Disadvantages: nutty ones I do not like

Its mothers day I wonder how many mums will receive a box of chocolates? Will it be a box of so so chocolates or a box of Cadbury milk tray? (Still time to rush out and buy one kids before your mum gets up)

Cadbury launched this chocolate selection in 1915. In my childhood dashing young men performed many feats to present the lady with a box of these chocolates , just because the lady loves , Now the advertising wording has changed now to with extra mmmmmmmm and ahhhhhhh

I have eaten several boxes of this chocolate since my birth and also given many as presents. I would not say these are my favourite chocolate but they are good. Yes you are right they are an unimaginative present but one that is usually received favourably.

The box is the unmistakable Cadbury blue with swirls.
There are several sizes of this box of chocolate. A 454g box cost about £6.00, a 636g box cost about £11 and a massive 907g box cost about £14.
Opening the smaller box of chocolate there are two layers of sweets 48 in total the selection is: -

Orange truffle a dairy milk shell with a tangy orange truffle filling tasty not to sweet.

Hazel nut caress. Nuts, a hazelnut in soft caramel in the heart shaped chocolate case. My hubby can have this I do not like nuts.

Hazel nut whirl, he can have this too its a hazelnut wrapped in chocolate: -

A nut secret, ssssshhhhhhh guess what? I dont like this one either. Its a dark chocolate the hazel nut is a truffle. Centre

Soft whisper another nutty tasting one a smooth praline blended from hazelnuts and almonds in a chocolate coat.

Honey love. Milk chocolate with a honey caramel a little sweet but ok

Turkish delight, a chocolate covered Turkish delight not keen on Turkish delight.

A mocha mystery, not a mystery for long a dark chocolate shell encases a coffee tasting truffle mm nice one.

A fudge dream. A milk chocolate covered fudge tasty but not exciting

Hazel nut heaven, not my idea of heaven. A milk chocolate covered hazelnut.

Now a caramel charm. A hard chewy caramel covered in chocolate .I like mind the fillings though.

A caramel heart is a heart shaped chocolate with a soft caramel filling nice but sweet

I finish with a strawberry kiss a milk chocolate with a strawberry flavoured fondant filling sweet but tasty.

Overall this box is quite good lots of hazel nut and caramel. Think I prefer a big bar of plain chocolate though but if my daughter turned up with one of these boxes for me I would be happy, so would hubby as he gets to eat the nuts.

These boxes are easy to buy most supermarkets , and corner shops stock them think you might get them in your petrol forecourt shop too especially as it is mothers day. These chocolates are a fine gift to say thanks , unimaginative but acceptable

Summary: a traditional box of chocolates

I prefer the nut centres myself. I remember those ads - classic! I can't recall the current ones though.
