Advantages: great variety
Disadvantages: --
I am someone who loves a gift and do believe that if you receive Cadbury's Roses it is kind and you should not buy them for yourself. Between Celebrations, Heroes, Quality Street and Roses, I definitely agree that Cadbury's Roses are the best above them all.
They have changed their chocolate a lot over the times but I feel they are currently successful because unlike Quality Street they are not filled with toffee and fudge for those who are not keen on them. Also, I did love the Coffee Cream and there is no alternative but I can live and still love the line-up of chocolate in Cadbury's Roses.
Below is the line-up of chocolate. There are 14 in total and I am listing them in their flavour families but really they are all individual and you can eat them whenever you want. I am listing them this way to make this easier to read and hopefully more interesting.
THE NUT FAMILY
______________
Hazel Whirl: I am not a big fan of nuts but this is ok. In appearance it is a circle but swirls at the top. Taking a bite, this is all chocolate but in the middle there is a small nut. This is not overly nutty and therefore quite tasty.
(WRAPPER):The wrapper is all purple metallic with an orange end.
Hazel in Caramel:This chocolate is quite self explanatory. The chocolate is in the shape of a nut, a curved, lengthy oval. Inside is all the gooey caramel and hidden in all of the caramel unfolds a nut and when chewed togehter this is a nice chocolate, my favourite of the nut family.
(WRAPPER):This is just a plain purple metallic wrapper with the Cadbury's Roses white writing over it.
THE ORANGE FAMILY
__________________
Tangy Orange Creme:This chocolate is in the shape of a square rounded at the top. All milk chocolate but inside is an orange creme filling.
(WRAPPER):This wrapper is a metallic orange foil one.
Orange Crisp:This is a long rectangular chocolate. In the first bite I looked at the chocolate and it was all chocolate inside. There are little crispy speckles through the chocolate of orange. When chewing this the orange parts crisp but overall a satisfying taste.
(WRAPPER):This is a plain metallic orange wrapper.
THE CARAMEL FAMILY
__________________
Caramel Velvet:This is the shape of a cone with the top chopped off. It is just a shell of milk chocolate filled with runny caramel.
(WRAPPER):It is a plain green metallic foil wrapper
Caramel:This is a square shaped chocolate. This is a hard caramel sweet coated in chocolate. It's ok but very plain and hard to chew.
(WRAPPER). A gold metallic wrapper.
Golden Barrel:This is pretty much the same sort of idea as the Caramel Velvet. This as the name hints is a barrel shape, again a milk chocolate outer shell and caramel centre.
(WRAPPER)Gold metallic foil
THE MILK CHOCOLATE FAMILY
_____________________
Cadury's Dairy Milk:This is just like your typical Dairy Milk but in miniature size. It is 2 small blocks of Cadbury's Milk chocolate.
(WRAPPER):The wrapper is purple metallic with the white Dairy Milk logo.
Chocolate Bite:Another rectangular shaped chocolate. In a similar style to the Orange Crisp this has crispy bits throughout the chocolate. It is very nice and adds something to the plain chocolate.
(WRAPPER):Metallic plain pink.
THE LUXURIOUS FAMILY
____________________
Praline Moment:Another one that is like a cone with the top cut off, if anyone knows what this shape is called help, it is making me go insane. It is like a soft milk chocolate mouse, very light almost like melted chocolate inside with a hint of nuttiness.
(WRAPPER):The wrapper is silver foil with the purple Roses design on it.
Strawberry Dream:This is my absolute favourite chocolate in the box. It is a dome shaped chocolate and inside it is filled with a strawberry cream flavoured centre.
(WRAPPER):A pink metallic foil wrapper.
Chunky Truffle:This is a sort of square shaped chocolate. It is not as easy to bite into. It is just filled with a softer milk chocolate centre. Nothing special but it is a chocolate truffle type filling so still quite nice.
(WRAPPER):Light blue metallic foil.
THE REMAINING TWO
_________________
These two could not be grouped as they are both individuals so they are just the others.
Brazilian Darkness:This is a square chocolate. It is a hard caramel/toffee square covered in dark chocolate. Probably my least favourite chocolate in the box as I don't really like dark chocolate.
(WRAPPER):Ared middle with yellow metallic ends.
Country Fudge:This is a long stick like shape. A long piece of ceamy fudge coated in Cadbury's milk chocolate. Quite simple and plain but quite pleasant.
(WRAPPER):Gold metallic wrapper.
PACKAGING
__________
This is one thing that has never really changed too much about Cadbury's Roses. The box has always been the same. It is like an upside down triangle with a flat top and is a classic shape for them. A bright blue box with purple around it and roses drawn all around. In white it says Roses and in purple is the usual Cadbury's logo. There can be tin variations of Roses also but this for me is enough

PURCHASING
___________
The price of a 480g box of Cadbury's Roses is £2.28, well it is in Asda. These can be bought in any local supermarket, corner shop etc.
OVERALL
________
The Cadbury's Roses selection is nice and you get a good number of each of the chocolates in a box. I prefer these over a lot of the chocolate sets out there.

Summary: Good value for money.
