Advantages: Delicious
Disadvantages: Moreish
I love the weekend and thoroughly look forward to it particularly for indulging myself in lifes little luxuries. I particularly enjoy sitting down to a long late breakfast on a Sunday as during the week this most important meal of the day is either rushed or missed out completely. One of the items I buy for this occasion is a packet of croissants. Yes I know that they are loaded with everything that's bad for you however a once a week indulgence is allowed!!!! These little delights however can be expensive and the price can vary considerably depending on where you actually purchase them. On this occasion I picked up a packet of six of these from Tesco for the bargain price of 89p. The particular brand was one which I had never heard of before Café Continental.
The croissants come covered in clear packaging with an inner container which the products sit in. They are all butter croissants and the makers describe them as being perfect for breakfast with butter and fresh coffee. I prefer mine slightly warm with lots of strawberry jam spread all over. My son just eats them straight from the pack uncooked however for best results they should be heated in the oven for 2-3 minutes. Please note that this product is not suitable for microwave cooking. You can also freeze these recommended on the day of purchase. However they should be defrosted for a minimum of two hours before consumption. If you have allergies I would not recommend eating this product before reading the allergy advice on the pack as it is not suitable for lots of people. The product contains milk, wheat, gluten, egg and may contain nuts however it is suitable for vegetarians.
I have to say that I would certainly recommend this item as they taste absolutely delicious. When they are first taken out of the oven the aroma is extremely tantalising they smell fresh just like being in a bakers shop. Be careful though as they are hot hot hot. The consistency is just right too a little crumbly but essentially firm however they just melt in the mouth and smothered in butter are divine. Be careful not too keep them in the oven too long as they will burn quickly. These are so moreish be warned!!! I always find that croissants in particular are better eaten on the day of purchase however if you cant eat them all at once ensure that they are stored in a cool dry place and in an airtight container. Overall for the price these croissants are well worth the money and I would grudge paying ridiculous prices for these in the future as they can often be around the £2 mark for only four. Five stars for these ones.
