Advantages: So runny, you have to chase it round the room

Disadvantages: Only 24 hours in a day in which to eat it!

Le Montsurais Camembert, Production De L'Agriculture Biologique:

If, as I do, you like a cheese that scorns waiting for the knife, but instead creeps, all by itself, towards the proffered high-baked water biscuit, then this is the one for you!

With a nod in the general direction of good health, courtesy of the “Organic” label, you can almost convince yourself that you are eating it purely as part of your all-round healthy eating programme! However, once you’ve removed your head from that particular sandpit and remembered that all rich cheeses are an indulgence best kept for occasional use, then you just have to give in. Give in to the fact that, if you ARE going to indulge, then make it worthwhile! Too many soft cheeses these days are completely without flavour and rarely ooze like they should. This is the exception. Purchased in Tesco for the princely sum of £2.49, this is true luxury for the cheese lover. Taken out of the fridge a mere 30 minutes prior to eating, it is absolute perfection. The crust remains intact, but the inside is gloriously gooey, terrifically pungent and, spreads beautifully on the aforementioned crisp biscuit. Pop it in your mouth with a swill of a good red wine and you will find yourself transported to cheese heaven.

OK, there are a thousand more cheeses available in France itself that could probably beat this one into a cocked hat. However, given the nonsensical rules and regulations coming down from the giddy heights of Brussels, we cannot generally access them. This cheese is available in your local supermarket, but when eating it, you can imagine yourself sitting in the sun outside a bijou café in the South of France; at the end of a vast and truly sensational gastronomic feast of the kind only the French seem to offer.
