Cantal

i just came back from tesco where i was doing some quick shopping and stumbled upon this cheese. although i am a big cheese fan i did not know it. from the look and stucture i thought it would have much stronger taste as itz looked a bit like those strong swiss (ot french) cheeses, but the taste was much more milky and mellow. i quite like it although it has not some special quality and i will not be looking for it every day. but when wanting to have some noit-too-strong cheese (that is not very expensiveú for cooking or for eating war i might buy it again. i have eaten it with red peppers, dark bread, some parsley and buttermilk (it is summer and i did not ...  Read the complete review

I just had some cheese for my lunch and was thinking about the French cheeses we ate on our holidays. One cheese was Cantal, This cheese is made in the Cantal mountain range in the Auvergne region in France. Cantal is a very old cheese reported to being made 2000 years ago. Originally Cantal was made in a burran. A burron is a stone shelter on the extinct volcanoes in the Cantal region. The herdsman would shelter in a burron while he was minding the cows.
