Carte D'Or Stracciatella

... persuade it out of the pot. When I did, I found that the chocolate ripples started to melt and by the time I got to it (freezer in the cellar, slight delay) I had vanilla ice cream swimmign in a sticky chocolate sauce, whichw as nice. I enjoyed the little chocolate lumps - nice contrast. The ice cream is light, sweet without being sickly and a nice contrast to the richer chocolate. It is rather moorish and I can see how a person might end up eating the whole pot in one fell swoop. Now, back to the packaging, because this...more

Crowned Review Carte D'Or Stracciatella: Straddle Your Fella (or something...) (575 words)

I was kind of hoping Dooyoo wouldn’t have this flavour in the category. I have just stuffed my face with this for the past few minutes and to be honest, I’m a bit ice creamed out. Hey ho, the things I do for you guys ;-) Well, you see what happened was that I nipped out to the Spar to get some milk. While I was there, I casually peered into the freezer as they had a special offer on Haagen-Dazs a few weeks ago and I’m still hoping they will get some more in. They didn’t. But instead, they had two varieties of Carte D’Or, which is probably my second favourite type of ice cream. This is cheaper than Haagen-Dazs so we usually ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Can't pronounce it but will eat it. (483 words)

Carte D'or seem to have a weakness for extravagent names that don't really give you much insight into the product. It's ice cream (not pasta as the name might suggest) in fact, it's ice cream of the chocolaty variety and very nice it is too. Prices for carte D'or seem to fluctuate wildly in the Sainsburys I frequent, but I think you could expect to spend something around the three pounds mark for a pot that will give you four modest servings. So, what do you get? White vanilla ice cream with chocolate ripples in it and somewhat ahrder chocolate fragments sprinkled over the top for added texture. The first thing to note is that this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Carte D'Or Stracciatella: Haagen who? (220 words)
by - written on 02/10/01 (Useful, 49 readings)

Carte d'or seems to be the cheaper alternative to Haagen Dazs or Ben and Jerry's ice cream - it's what to get when you can't quite justify the £4 or more for a 500ml of one of those - but you can cope with a bit more ice cream for a bit less cost. Carte d'or stracciatella is one of my personal favourites, it's quite light... in fact you can quite easily convince yourself that this ice cream is very dieticious, and will in fact help you to lose weight... or maybe not... anyway it's like a vanilla base with gorgeous chocolate swirls and this really great topping thing that's full of chocolate bits and saucy stuff, really nice after ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ice cream for chocoholics? (194 words)
by - written on 27/08/01 (Useful, 502 readings)
Rating:

Carte D'Or's Stracciatella ice cream is for chocoholics. It's not just ice cream, it's a whole dessert and would be a great end to any dinner party. Stracciatella is one of the three new Italian flavours launched last year by Carte D'Or in a bid to boost their sales in the UK. I am not sure what Stracciatella translates as but the ice cream is vanilla ice cream laced with cocoa sauce and topped with sauce and real chocolate pieces. It is like ice cream with chocolate sauce on top, only better! Carte D'Or are highly regarded range of premium ice creams so are a little more expensive, however, not so expensive as Ben ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Carte D'Or Stracciatella: Yummy not sickly (120 words)

This ice cream is one of my personal favourites. Carte D'Or aren't cheap but you get a decent sized tub. I bought my tub in Tesco but I have also seen it in Iceland. Its indulgant with the crunchy chocolate sauce yet light enough with the vanilla ice cream. They manage a perfect balance of chocolate to vanilla. I wouldn't advise eating too much because I'm pretty certain it's fattening but its a lovely sumptuous dessert to have after a nice meal. My boyfriend turned his nose up at this since its the modern white vanilla ice cream, not the yellowy traditional vanilla. However it's absolutely delicious. More for me! ...  Read the complete review
