Advantages: Great flavours
Disadvantages: A bit more expensive than other ice creams but worth it
Carte D'Or's Stracciatella ice cream is for chocoholics. It's not just ice cream, it's a whole dessert and would be a great end to any dinner party. Stracciatella is one of the three new Italian flavours launched last year by Carte D'Or in a bid to boost their sales in the UK. I am not sure what Stracciatella translates as but the ice cream is vanilla ice cream laced with cocoa sauce and topped with sauce and real chocolate pieces. It is like ice cream with chocolate sauce on top, only better! Carte D'Or are highly regarded range of premium ice creams so are a little more expensive, however, not so expensive as Ben and Jerry's. You can buy a one litre tub in Tesco's for £2.79 and at the moment they have an offer on buy two for £2.29 each. I have found that they are so popular that it can be difficult to get the one you want so keep trying. Try out the whole range - they are all great and have to be my favourite ice cream.

- 29/08/01 Nice op, but I have to say I didn't like this flavour of carte d'or at all. The ice-cream looked too white and tasted like one of these cheap, slightly salty, own brand white soft scoop products, while the chocolate sauce tasted a bit 'over-present' given the poor quality of the white ice-cream. Carte d'or's coconut flavour ice-cream, on the other hand, really is fantastic, with small flakes of coconut in each spoonful that you can't see but can definitely taste. |
