Advantages: Great taste, easy to open, good pot that can be reused.
Disadvantages: Can be a little expensive but look out for special offers.
Who needs an excuse to enjoy delicious ice cream? I don't! No matter what time of year be it raining or sunny outside I want ice cream as my treat! Preferably with chocolate biscuits or pieces of chocolate all chopped up and thrown in.
I have been known to call my fiance and beg for him to take mercy on me and bring a delicious treat home and he always goes for something with a more luxurious feel to it when compared to what I'd usually buy (good job I'm going to hold the pursestrings when we live together!).
Carte D'Or comes in a plastic tub which holds 1 litre of ice cream and to open the tub you have a small plastic piece which you need to break off and then you can use one thumb or finger to remove the lid. There is usually no ice cream on the lid to start off with but after a couple of servings I seem to find that there is ice cream all over the lid and this just means that I have to run the spoon along the lid to make sure nothing is wasted!
This ice cream is biege in colour and is made with skimmed milk, sugar, water amongst other things and there are also pieces of vanilla bean pieces shattered throughout the ice cream and these are dark in appearance and there seems to be lots of them. This ice cream is lovely and creamy and fairly thick but it's easy enough to get a spoon in to dish some up.
The taste of this ice cream is lovely and sweet and you can tell that there is lots of sugar contained within the ice cream but frankly I don't care because it's so tasty and yummy! I especially enjoy it with a little added chocolate sauce and the odd biscuit or two but then I have been known to overindulge from time to time ;)
I would definitely recommend this ice cream as you can really taste the vanilla pod pieces within and this gives the ice cream a genuine vanilla flavour which far exceeds the cheaper ice cream you can purchase.
I am rating this tub of vanilla flavoured deliciousness 5/5 and you can pick up a 1 litre tub for £2.94 from Tesco stores or www.tesco.co.uk and at 120 calories and 5.5g of fat per 100ml it doesn't hurt to indulge every now and again!
Summary: A fantastic vanilla ice cream with real vanilla pod pieces that tastes delicious.
