Advantages: tastes great, looks natural, creamy
Disadvantages: expensive, high in calories
Carte D'or is one of the long time standing ice creams, and although it is very expensive, it is indeed a luxurious ice cream for those like me who go for the quality. Vanilla is still the most popular ice cream, it is so versatile and can be served with anything or eaten alone. At any time. This particular Vanilla is the king of vanilla, it is very pale in colour, no bright yellow to dazzle you when you remove the lid, very natural looking and the best bit is. there is real vanilla in it, little flecks can be seen, and these are in fact vanilla pod, which has been ground into it. This adds a whole new experience to the word vanilla. Most ice cream hasn’t seen a vanilla pod in its life and has only vanilla essence or flavouring to link it to its name. The result is a creamy, wonderful tasting product, completely natural in taste and very addictive too. Own up time! Yes I can eat a whole litre of this from the tub, with no problem, well except for the extremely high calorie intake of course! The packaging is good but nothing extraordinary, it comes in oval tubs at around £3.99, however some supermarkets sell it at around £3, so it pays to shop around. You can also buy it in tiny tubs too; complete with spoon and these are a whopping 99p, for a few mouthfuls. Get the biggie! Overall I recommend this to you, you won't be disappointed in taste at al, in fact you will want more..and more...

- 02/06/01 At the end of the day, it's only Walls Ice Cream isn't it. Just putting a foreign sounding title doesn't make it cosmopolitan (or neapolitan). Just being a vanilla snob, coz I love my chocolate ice cream. |
