Cathedral City Cheddar (Cathedral City Mature Cheddar)

Advantages: Lovely tasting cheese & long lasting Disadvantages: Quite expensive As with most cheeses Cathedral City can be brought in either the mild or mature version. One of the most expensive versions of cheese i have tried but i have to say this one is my absolute favourite. Can be brought in either 200g or 400g packs and smells delicious. The main reason i buy this brand of cheese is that it comes in resealable bags making the cheese last longer and it certainly does its job. After opening the pack i have found that the cheese can last for around another three weeks or so before it starts to turn so you dont get much wastage from it. Cathedral City cheese is made in the West Country then matured for a few months to give it its flavour. It is mature yet not overpowering lie some cheeses and a 100g portion contains 739mg of calcium which amounts to 92.5% of your recommended daily allowance making it a great source of calcium and protein too. Does contain quite a large amount of fat (34.9g per 100g) but this is the case with most cheeses. A 400g pack of Cathedral City generally costs around £3.70 though is quite often available on either half price offers or bogof so worth looking around before buying. Best on the market. Summary: Best cheese around for me. Highly recommended |
