Advantages: Quick and easy way to kick start your metabolism

Disadvantages: Expensive way to eat breakfast

Breakfast is something I am not keen on, I find it very hard to eat a large amount, or faff around sorting out toast or cereal in the morning, but, because of the tablets I take, I have to eat breakfast and I have to eat within about an hour of getting up. Now I'm supposed to eat something substantial, but trying to accommodate this when you struggle to know which brush to aim at your hair and which at your teeth first thing in the morning is hard. For me, this makes breakfast bars idea.
Generally these bars are around 20-35g and a single breakfast bar is only just about enough to kick start your metabolism according to a dietician I once saw, so I reckon if you struggle with much more like me then you're doing ok with something like this.

There are so many different varieties available out there, that you can choose really crunchy, or soft and chewy, you can find them filled with sweet sauce or stuffed with berries or even bits of chocolate these days. I quite like to choose one which is crunchy without being too hard, and has some fruit in it. I'm not too big on the ones which are full of chocolate chips, to me they don't seem quite breakfasty you know. Fruit and fibre do a bar which is rather nice and I quite like some of the tescos own brand ones (though the strawberry and white chocolate one they do which is very tasty is more of a snack bar for with lunch to me than a breakfast one).

Another added advantage to a breakfast bar is of course that you don't need a bowl and spoon to eat it. So if you're running late for something you can just grab, run, and eat it on the way. I don't find myself doing that so much these days as I no longer work, but back when I was working, it wasn't uncommon for me to eat one on the way to work in the car or on the bus, and it did at least stop me arriving ravenous and buying from the shop on site which was crazy expensive.

Summary: Very useful thign to have around, but maybe not the best way to start the day.
