Advantages: Quick and easy to cook, Taste Lovely
Disadvantages: Can only cook one at a time in the microwave
*Chicago Town Ham & Pineapple Deep Pan Pizza* Over the last few years the Pizza market has been saturated and now more often than not I find myself choosing the one that?s on special offer as otherwise its so difficult to choose between all the variations now available. Therefore in the supermarket at the weekend I decided to buy the Ham and Pineapple flavour from The Chicago Town pizza range. The product is actually two small pizzas around five inches in diameter, weighing 170g each and comes in a jazzy blue box with a picture of the pizza on the front. The promotion was 76 pence off, so for 99 pence I was getting a bargain lunch. One of the best things about this product is that you can cook it in the microwave as well as the oven. Either way you need to cook the product from frozen. Microwave: Depending on the power of your microwave you can cook this product in just three minutes, and after leaving it to cool for a minute, its ready to cook. The only problem with this is that you can only cook one at a time which does involve a bit of messing about but also means that you can eat the first one whilst the second is cooking. Each pizza comes with its own cardboard tray that (it has instructions) is easy to turn into a stand, this gives the pizza height and therefore better cooking all the way through. Oven: Using the oven means that you can cook both pizzas together although the downside is that it will take around twenty minutes. All cooking instructions are detailed on the packaging. Although each pizza is only small the topping covers the entire base. The base itself rises at the sides so that the topping doesn?t spill over the edge. Each pizza has about the same amount of ham and pineapple chunks, which are small and I would personally prefer to be slightly bigger. The cheese covering is also vast and consistent ? there?s nothing worse than one side having more cheese than the other on a pizza.
r> Having tasted the pizza before, I wasn?t let down. Although small, the amount of ham and pineapple pieces make this pizza one of the best on the market. Each is full of taste and the combination is as good as any in this flavour that I have tasted. The cheese and tomato puree is also of the highest quality but it is the base that makes the pizza for me. I am a big fan of thick, crusty bases and the dish style used on this product does it for me. The base is thick enough to enjoy with making the rest of the pizza taste doughy. Depending on how crispy you prefer the base to be may help you decide how to cook the product as the oven definitely makes it more crispier, although I personally think its done enough in the microwave. The smell is the classic pizza smell and is filled with sweet pineapple and ham mixture. Using the oven sends the smell all through the house and is lovely. Overall this pizza is definitely one of my favourites on the market and also coming in Hot and Spicy, Triple Cheese and Pepperoni, there is a lot of variety. The one thing that is a bit annoying is that if you are about to watch your favourite TV programme you have to mess about putting the other pizza in the microwave once the first has finished, although as already mentioned if you?re not as lazy as me then you could use the oven. For those of you into your GM foods then this will appeal as it is made with no genetically modified ingredients. Although the pizzas are small they are easily enough for a light meal although I would recommend adding some chips or similar to make it into an evening meal. I tend to go for the former or leave a couple in the freezer for when I need a quick snack, after all they only take three minutes in the microwave. They also need to be kept frozen but this gives them a best before date of around a year, so no rush to eat them! I would recommend this product to anyone who loves pizza and also think it would be ideal for kids di
nners as one would be sufficient to feed a youngster. It?s the not the most healthy product in the world but is comforting that it is not made with any GM ingredients. The product is available from most supermarkets, although the prices vary. I have often seen many offers on them and this is when I usually purchase them as otherwise at around £1.70 they are quite expensive.
