Advantages: chocolate
Disadvantages: fattening
The product title simply says chocolate chip cake bars.
I am not sure which manufacturers cake bars this is for as several manufacturers make a chocolate chip cake bar.
Mr Kipling does, tescos make their own, I am sure other supermarkets make their own make too I also have made these cake bars.
So what are chocolate chip cake bars? Well basically what it says a cake bar with chocolate chips in it?
It's a pleasant enough cake, a vanilla sponge. Quite moist and an even scattering with a fair amount of chocolate chips. I have had these before they are ok for that snack at work.
Mr Kipling cakes are presented in a box containing 5 cake bars. The cake bars are not very big about 8cm long by 3 cm. they contain 135 calories Each one is individually wrapped, ideal for that lunch box. . These cake bars are often on offer two for one and such. Tescos are selling them for £1.19p a pack that's 24 p each or 2 packs for £2.00P
Tescos own choc chip cake bars pack of 5 again this time 99p. These again are individually wrapped. Much the same size as the Mr Kipling ones a bit fatter perhaps. They taste much the same as the Mr Kipling ones. 125 calories per cake
Mc Vities also make a choc chip cake bars in the Go ahead range not had one of these. The go ahead ones have 100 calories per cake bar
Then my home made ones. I basically use a standard cake recipe 4 oz/100g sugar, 4 oz/100g margerine 2 eggs 4 oz /100g SR flour, a little vanilla essence and lots of chocolate chips.
Beat sugar and, margarine together add eggs add a little van essence just a few drops fold in the flour add as many choc chips as required. Cook in a cake tray cut into bars when cooked wrap in cling film and pop in that lunch box.
Remember do not send your kids in with these every day send in fruit for their lunch too:
Summary: little choc chips bars

- 27/01/08 I like to do a variation where I sub 2 oz of porridge oats, add a half teapoon of of baking powder, and add a few raisins in the mix, and even possibly sunflower seeds. |
