Advantages: Variety and great tasting

Disadvantages: Addictive and fattening

I know I'm not alone when I say that I'm partial to a bit of chocolate every now and then. I try to be 'good' and stay clear of the stuff, but it seems to find its way into my trolley at the supermarket, or in my basket, sometimes even my hand if I pop out for lunch.

I find that, instead of fighting the urge to have chocolate, I give in and enjoy it, because it is there to be enjoyed, and many consider chocolate to be an art form as opposed to food. Easter is virtually upon us, with Easter Sunday looming bright and large tomorrow. Today, we went to do our weekly shop, and EVERYWHERE is Easter Egg this and Easter Egg that. We thought we'd go against the grain for our mum and dad, and go for a nice selection of dessert chocs from Thornton's. They like these, they are more sophiscated and have more of an explosion of chocolate in the mouth than other, cheaper chocs. For my son, we've bought a Ben 10 choc egg, and we indulged in a Cadbury's Creme Egg each for myself and my wife.

But, in general, I'll eat most types of chocolate and not be fussy. Chocolate is made from various combinations of cacao solids, sugars, and other ingredients depending on where you get them from and which choc bar or egg or slab or pudding or sauce you are eating at the time. I'm partial to the odd own brand bar. I don't mind fulfilling a choc craving, whether it be mine or my wife's, but I only splash out if it's a special occasion. As a result, I go for the value choc such as Somerfield's own brand, or Tesco Value choc, or the Sainsbury's Basic choc. These tend to do the job for me.

Occasionally, this isn't enough, or I need a bit of variety, and I'll go for a bar such as a Kit Kat or a Yorkie. My wife likes Bounty, with a nice balance with the choc and coconut, and the occasional Mint Aero, with mint being one of chocolates best allies in enticing people to buy it.

However, one thing is for sure, and that is that too much chocolate will soon pile the pounds on through sugar and calories, so be cautious and don't eat too much. Sure, indulge from time to time, but only go for just enough to fulfill your cravings. Otherwise, you'll join the horde of chocoholics out there.

What's that? You already have? Oh, well, best just enjoy the ride, then!

Summary: Are you a chocoholic?
