Chocolate is made up from a number of raw and processed foods that are produced from the seed of the tropical cacao tree. from lowland, tropical South America,

Chocolate is available in 3 different types, Dark, Milk and White. Milk chocolate is sweet chocolate that as well as Cocoa Beans and Cocoa butter contains milk powder or condensed milk. White chocolate contains cocoa butter, sugar, and milk but no cocoa solids. Dark chocolate is produced by adding fat and sugar to the cacao mixture

Some of the health benefits thought to be related to chocolate are:
Releases antioxidants
Reduces the possibility of heart attacks
Dark chocolate can benefit the circulatory system
Anti Cancer
Brain Simulator
Prevents Coughs
It is also thought to be an aphrodisiac - not sure if this has been proven.

FYI - Milk and dark chocolate contains alkaloids which effect serotonin levels in the brain that can prove to be dangerous to animals. White chocolate does not have any cocoa solids in it and is much more animal friendly.

I have always wondered if you can be classed as a chocoholic if you only like white or milk chocolate. Dark chocolate is probably the purest form of chocolate available and yet I steer well clear of it. I don't like the texture or the taste. I find in crumbly rather than soft and melting and the taste can be rather sour. My guess is that's how "real" die hard chocolate would taste, like the stuff made out of 99% cocoa or something.

The best thing about chocolate? Having something that is so wrong but tastes sooo right! On a Friday night when the kids are in bed and a favourite programme is about to start I can think of nothing better to have in my hand than some 'straight out of the fridge' chocolate. It always tastes better from the fridge, not too nice when it's already melting in the packet before you open it.

Chocolate bars/boxes I would recommend:

Gulliyan - the Sea Shell ones only
Galaxy Ripples - not keen on the normal Galaxy but this is divine!
Flakes - All time classic
Greens & Black White Chocolate - it has chopped up vanilla in and is just yummy
Wispas - Im so glad they have come back!
Roses - they have changed the collection a bit and its even better
Any Cadburys chocolate really

Now here's a thought....Nestle Caramacs, are they chocolate? I have always thought so, they are smooth and come in a bar the only difference is they have the caramel/toffee taste to them. They also have less calories than most but are more an acquired taste.

The cost of chocolate I have noticed has crept up a lot lately, you cant seem to even buy a Curly Wurly or Fudge anymore for less than 20p. But then it's worth paying 50p for a taste of heaven and the packaging is becoming more advanced these days - foil for freshness and all that.

For those who always like free chocolate and wonder what the inside of a chocolate factory really looks like a visit to Cadburys World is highly recommended. Although prepare to be disappointed if you go there thinking Willy Wonka and his Chocolate Factory, there are no Umpa Loompas at Cadburys!

Summary: Love it
