Advantages: Lovely creamy chocolate, Well known manufacturer, New product worth testing
Disadvantages: Packed with calories, A bit more expensive than some other similar chocolate bars
Yesterday I went into my local garage forecourt shop to pay for my fuel when I spotted a new chocolate bar, I dithered about for a while whilst deciding whether or not to buy one - I'm supposed to be going on a diet but as usual I put the diet off again and in the nature of research convinced myself that I really should buy it to try. The chocolate bar I am referring to is manufactured by Nestlé and is called Double Cream. The product is packaged in a predominantly chocolate brown wrapper which has a pool of cream in the middle on the front of the packaging which has the words Nestlé Double Cream emblazoned across it. The wording on the wrapper advises that this chocolate bar is made with divine double cream balanced with fine cocoa beans because Chocolate Matters - well who am I to argue with that - Chocolate definitely matters to me. If you front of the product has failed to convince you to try the chocolate bar the reverse of the wrapper aims to tempt you further by telling you that ' you deserve me. No really, you do. Devour my double cream, savour my fine cocoa beans from Ecuador and remember Chocolate Matters. Well I'm convinced but then again I didn't need to read all the flowery wording to be convinced - simply the word chocolate was enough for me. Having managed to restrain myself for a whole day yesterday and managing not to give into temptation I am now starving and am about to devour this chocolate bar as I write - only so I can fully describe my thoughts whilst eating it of course and be able provide you with an accurate review of my findings. Ok - I'm peeling back the wrapper and I am faced with two sticks of chocolate which are joined in the middle, each stick has been divided into small bite sized pieces. The first thing I noticed when I revealed the chocolate was the smell - it smells divine which is great as I'd hate to be disappointed now I've got this far. Having sniffed the chocolat
e I'm now dribbling at the mouth and aching to bite into this hard, sweet smelling, velvety brown chocolate. Ok I'm ready, I've closed my eyes, opened my mouth wide and am slowly edging this beauty towards my mouth. First I take a little lick to get a taste for it, then I indulge myself further by sucking before finally taking a great big bite. I'm not disappointed, the first thing I notice is the creamy taste followed by the soft velvety texture of the chocolate. The chocolate bar tastes, and is not dissimilar to Galaxy. I don't know why but I think I prefer this to Galaxy it doesn't seem to leave a film in your mouth as much as Galaxy does. The weight of the bar isn't on the packaging but the product is a similar size to a Cadburys Caramel Bar. I haven't seen the product in any other size bars but there may be other sizes available. I paid 43p for this chocolate bar but this was in a garage forecourt and you normally pay a bit more there - I imagine that this product retails for around 35p - 45p depending on where you buy it. Each bar contains 250 calories and 14.5g of fat so this product is definitely not for dieters - but then again if you put the diet off until tomorrow like I do you could always sample this first - it is highly recommended. If you are not on a diet and are skinny and could eat this until it comes out of your ears without putting on an ounce - I don't want to know! Nearly forgot to mention - this product contains traces of nut.
