Advantages: Tastes nice and summery

Disadvantages: Not the best flavour of the bunch

I really enjoy eating lollipops. I not only find that they satisfy my sweet tooth without giving me an overload of calories but they also quench my thirst at the same time. My two year also likes them but I only let him have a lick of mine as I think they are far too dangerous for him to have one of his own.

Chupa chups are probably the most popular and well known lollipop brand that I know of. The lollipops come in all sorts of weird and wonderful flavours and you can buy them individually for around 10p or for £2 you can get a bag of around 15-20. This flavoured lollipop was on approvedfood.co.uk last week when we were making an order so we threw a few into our basket. It cost us £1 for 15 if I remember rightly. You can pick these up fro just about any supermarket or local store and they will usually be in a twirly stand trying to tempt you at the checkouts.

This particular flavour comes in a pink wrapper and when you take it off the actual candy is nice baby pink. It doesn't particularly smell of anything and it definitely isn't a perfect circle like other lollipops. It's very mis-shapen and isn't smooth to the touch. The bottom half of the circle is slightly bigger than the top too.

When first put this lollipop in my mouth it took a while for the flavour to come out. Eventually I could taste a nice strawberry flavour that wasn't too overwhelming. As I continued sucking I found that it had a nice creaminess about the sweet and reminded me of strawberries and clotted cream rather than a strawberry yogurt.. As I got sucking the flavour came out more and more but it was still subtle and didn't make me want to take the lollipop out of my mouth.

The stick is made of plastic which is a bit of a let down. When I finish my lollies I like to spend a bit of time deforming the stick. If the stick is made of paper then I wet the end and try to unravel it until it's one big mess but since this one wasn't I just bit it until it was flat from top to bottom.

Over all I really enjoyed this lollipop but I do prefer the cola flavour and I don't expect that I will buy these again. It did make a nice change from the usual chocolate I eat though and the fact that I was eating it on a nice sunny day just reminded me of a scene from Wimbledon.

Summary: A nice lollipop

I haven't tried one of these for years! And to think your two year old has to watch mummy eating one - torture!!
