Coco Pops Rocks From Kellogg’s
Cereal is something I love and I seem to go through boxes of the stuff. I can find that getting the same old sort is rather tiresome and I usually try and try newly released products or ones that are on special offer and I have yet to try.
These Coco Pops Rocks were on special offer in Tesco’s a few weeks ago and I think it was something like £2.50 pence for two boxes. They are smaller than most boxes but they are rather heavy and contain a lot of “Rocks” inside. They are fairly new out on to the market and no one I knew had tried them yet so I thought I would give them ago. These chocolate flavoured breakfast cereals I always find rather expensive and no always the best thing to be eating first thing in the morning. I do like to snack on them throughout the day or evening so I don’t mind buying chocolate flavoured from time to time.
Seeing as they were so cheap I bought them straight away and couldn’t wait to get home to munch on them. I was rather disappointed however and found that I won’t be buying them again…ever!
They are basically balls of chocolate rather larger than Coco Pops mixed in with oval shaped Rocks, which are like wafer on the outside, but houses a chocolate spread like ingredients on the inside. Now I always have my cereal with ice cold milk as I find this gives the best taste and when eating chocolate cereal its like you get a milkshake as well. The large chocolate balls are dark brown in colour and these don’t taste too bad. They are super crunchy and a lot harder in texture than the standard Coco Pops. They don’t however seem to turn the milk chocolate coloured at all. The chocolate stays well on the Rocks and there was no chance of me getting my chocolate milkshake on the side!
What I really didn’t like about this cereal was the other Rocks in the packet. There were less of these in a packet, I would say a 10 to 1 ratio, thank god. As I say they oval in shape and about an inch long. They are a light beige coloured wafer and the chocolate spread inside tastes very strange against the cold milk when you eat them mixed in with the other rocks. These larger oval rocks don’t seem to mix well with the other Rocks in the packet and these certainly wont have any affect on turning my milk chocolate.
Overall to eat they are certainly not the best cereal about and one that I was glad to get to the bottom of. I won’t be buying them again now or in the future. The oval Rocks need to be taken out but then I think Kellogg’s have released a cereal like this already onto the market. These oval Rocks don’t taste in the least bit nice and in the end I would pick them out before eating a bowl.
If you have yet to try these Coco Pops Rocks and have been thinking about it then I would suggest you stay well clear. They are not really worth the cost at the bargain price that I paid for them let along paying the standard retail price. I would say think twice before you buy when looking at the Kellogg’s Coco Pops rocks.
