... mixes before. It's easy to make up with water because it comes as granules that mix up well and you can smell the sauce starting to come together as soon as you put the mix in. I browned the sausages first under the grill and then put them in with the mix and some sliced mushrooms and a few spoons of sweetcorn. The sauce that is made up from this mix is very nice and loads better than I thought it would be for such a flat sachet of powder! It tastes rich and meaty, the sauce is a bit salty but I expected that and...more

Yum, what could be nicer than sausages for dinner but for anyone who has ever got bored of sausage and mash or a fry up dinner then this sausage casserole mix is for you. As you know from another one of my reviews I would love to make all my casseroles and dinners from scratch but just do not have the time so these packets are perfect for "cheating." It comes from the makers Colman's of Norwich who are probably most famous for their mustard in the little yellow jars. The packaging of this mix includes the yellow at the top so you know it is from the same company and I think that is what lets you know that this is going to be a good quality product. I ...  Read the complete review

Colman's Sausage Casserole Sauce Mix I tries this packet mix for the first time last night. I usually like to make things from scratch, but time got in the way, and I grabbed a pack of this from the supermarket instead. I used sausages with choritzo in which really added to the flavour, threw in mushrooms, carrots and yellow pepper (add towards the end of cooking so they retain their crunch) and put it in the oven. Then made some mashed potatoes too, just to add to the "comfort food" theme! This casserole was really, really good. I was actually surprised at how nice it was. It cooked easily, no fuss or mess and tasted ...  Read the complete review

I have been feeling very lazy of late and not been cooking my meals from scratch as much as I have wanted to. My latest lazy meal has consisted of using a packet mix, something I haven't done for a long time, but when I saw it on the shelves in the supermarket last week it reminded me of when I used to eat this all the time. Coleman's has been a household name for years and they do plenty of different packet mixes. Nothing is as good for you, but these aren't too bad for you occasionally, as they don't contain any artificial colour or preservatives. Basically this sauce mix will replace the need for you to chop and find certain herbs in your ...  Read the complete review

Anything that makes my life a little bit easier in the kitchen is a godsend to me . Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy cooking, but most days I just dont have the time to plan things out . My cupboards, as a result, are full of various mixes for sauces and such that I can use to jazz up some meat . This is one of those convenient little items . Costing 85 p a packet in my corner shop, these are very small packets that don't take up much space in your cupboard at all, and have a relatively long life (Mine have always had about 6 months or so left when I buy them) so its something you can keep around as a 'Just in case'. Its an absolute ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Colman's Sausage Casserole Sauce Mix: How do you like your sausages? (658 words)

I can be extremely fussy when it comes to buying sausages and I recently bought some sausages from Tesco in their Tesco's finest range. Granted they were more expensive but the pork content was a lot higher and they tasted great. What made these sausages was the Colman's sausage casserole mix I bought to accompany them. As a lover of their chicken casserole mix I thought I would give it a try and see if the family liked it. When doing the weekly shop I have to relentlessly check all the ingredients as I suffer from IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) and obviously certain foods aggrivate the problem. One such food is garlic, I like the taste and yet I can not ...  Read the complete review
