Advantages: Great biscuits, can slightly taste a better quality

Disadvantages: More expensive than some other brands

Custard Creams have long been a favourite biscuit of mine, ever since, as a child, I discovered the art of eating one bit by bit, dissecting the biscuit to eat first one outer biscuit layer, then scrape off the inside vanilla flavour thin cream layer, and then chomp the final outer biscuit absent-mindedly, concentration no longer needed!

In terms of Crawford's Custard Creams, I had these a while ago as they were the only available option left, and I had a real craving for custard creams at the time. In all honesty, it is rare that I find a distinction between one type of custard cream and another, and this is really no exception, with the standard layout of the rectangular bsicuit all present and correct.

Crawford's version of the ever popular biscuit will set you back around the 60p mark, which is still not that expensive. This is for a 150g pack of the biscuits. So, as it's not going to break the bank, the price is acceptable. You will find cheaper versions of these biscuits, particularly in Tesco or Sainsbury's or Somerfield, etc, mainly the bigger name supermarkets, who do their own brand, and as a result the cost is much lower. Somerfield's Custard Creams roll in at 33p for the same amount, and you get more in a packet.

There is a very slight difference in the quality of these two types of biscuit - the Crawford ones have the slight edge where the whole thing is concerned, and I imagine the vanilla cream is likely to have been made using 'better' ingredents, and less flavourings and artificial colourings, etc. A quick look at the ingredients tells us that this is the case, with the Crawford's version being 'better' for you, although it's still a biscuit, and stodgy with it.

Crawford's Custard Cream biscuits get the nod from me. I like any form of custard cream - these are my favourite biscuits - and so I'm not fussy or picky when it comes to very slight differences on the ingredients list or a vague sense of eating a different product when tasting it. So, they get the thumbs up from me.

Summary: Good quality version of my favourite biscuit
