Advantages: a nice change from the orignal

Disadvantages: can eat a whole bag in one go very easily

M and M's have to be one of my favourite treats but I will mostly opt for the peanut variety. Every now and again, to the shock of my hubby, I will pick up a bag of these.

They are little circular balls that have a sugary outer shell with a milk chocolate inner but an there is also a crispy bit of rice sneaked inside too. They come in bright, vibrant colours with the letter 'M' on each side. You can buy them in 45g packs for around 50p but I suggest you go all out and purchase a family bag which will set you back around £1.80, because they are so morish that a little bag just won't satisfy.

The thing about these sweets is that it's very hard to eat just one at a time. They are quite small so if you put one in your mouth then you don't really get the full affect and it doesn't take up much space in your mouth. If you put a handful in (this is probably best done in a private place or you might be mistakened for a glutton!) then they really hit the spot. At first you get a whole load of crunching going on although the shell isn't so hard that it's difficult to break through. Your teeth tend to glide through the shell with minimum effort but the sound is quite magnificent and then you reach the crispy rice which is like biting through a rice Krispie. As you continue chewing away, the milk chocolate burst out and starts to melt and you are left with a whole load of chocolate with a little bit of shell dotted around as the rice melts away very quickly. If you look in your mouth at this point then it's not a very nice sight so I wouldn't recommend doing that!

The chocolate isn't the best that is on the shelves but I don't think anything comes close to Cadburys. It's not as too creamy but I wouldn't say that it tastes cheap which is a bonus considering these little beauties aren't cheap!

The only thing that I'd don't like about these is the fact that they leave a bit of a weird after taste in my mouth but it doesn't stop me eating a whole bag in one sitting.

I like looking at the M and M's in the bag because they appeal to my child side. For some reason I find that lots of bright colours make my heart jump!

If you like these then you could try the peanut variety or there is even the orignal flavour too.

Summary: The peanut ones still rule but these come a close second

I loved these at one time but have eaten so many of them that I can't face another one now, or any M&M for that matter!
