Advantages: Yummy and filling :)

Disadvantages: None unless you don't like the flavour :(

I love snacky foods and if they can be cooked in one pan that's awesome as there's less washing!!

Rice is a really filling food as it's a carbohydrate and really low in fat too so is really healthy for people watching their fat intake...

This Cross & Blackwell Savoury Golden rice is an awesome food that is so easy to cook and you can eat it on its own as a meal or as a side to another food like fish or chicken - it goes nice with both :)

Suitable for vegetarians and no added MSG and no artificial colours or preservatives the packet is a really bright orange with a forkful of the cooked steaming rice on the front.

The dried weight is 110 g which is enough for two people and is describes as: 'Seasoned long grain rice with peas, read peppers, carrots and onions', yummy!

The dried rice is 75% and the dried vegetables are 10% and there are flavouring too like celery and wheat and sugar.

Flavour is added with garlic powder and turmeric which gives it its golden colour and strong smell when you open the foiled lined packet.

To cook you can either cook it on the hob for 20 minutes in 400 ml of cold water bringing to the boil and then simmering or in the microwave for 15 minutes and then leave to stand for five.

For allergy advice there is cow's milk, wheat gluten and celery included.

The rice once cooked is really fluffy and full of flavour; the vegetables are tasty and plump up a bit from how dry they were in the packet. I have always loved this flavour as it isn't too strong and the vegetables are too much either!

There is a best before date of June next year on mine, it last ages because it is dried and it cost 56p or two for one pound from Morrisons. The calories are 200 per serving with 1,4g of fat.

5 stars from me, this is great for a quick meal that you can eat on its own!

Summary: Try it! :)
