Daim Bar

Description: Crunchy caramel and almond - regular and miniature bars covered in smooth milk chocolate.

Newest Review: ... worked out to be 25p per bar. The diam bar consists of a hard caramel and almonds that is covered in milk chocolate. It's ... more

... quite thin and is about as wide as a big ruler. The diam has a very strange texture to it. When you take a bite, your teeth sink into the chocolate and then when it hits the hard toffee, it tends to break into shards. As you chew it up the chocolate starts to melt quite quickly and then the caramel turn chewy and gets stuck in your teeth. I don't rate the chocolate much on these but because there's not a lot of it, it doesn't seem to matter. I would complain heavily other wise! The bar has a really creamy taste to ...more

Crowned Review Daim Bar: What's in a naim? (866 words)

My apologies to anyone averse to verse, but I got challenged "in another place" to write this review in this form. ____________________________________________ If you go back a bit in time And delve in the primordial slime, You’ll see Daim bars were once called Dime, A word far easier to rhyme… …and far far easier to say; No guidance needed on the way It’s meant to sound – that’s clear as day, And won’t embarrass or dismay. But Daim? Why do the makers do it? Discard a name when people knew it? Replace it with one strange and new? It Seems to me they went and blew ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Frankly, My Dear, I Don't Give a Daim! (793 words)

Despite still being able to recall the “soft on the outside, crunchy on the inside” tagline from the Harry Enfield advertising campaign from the height of its, and his, popularity many years ago, I hadn’t thought of the Dime bar for ages. It had been so long since I considered the sweet that the 2005 rebranding that turned it from a Dime bar into the Daim bar completely passed me by. The reason for this became immediately obvious when I tried to track one down. The Daim bar appeared to be one of the more elusive of chocolate bars. It was not to be found in any of the usual places I would buy chocolate; my local paper shop, the 24 hour petrol station and the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Daim Bar: Dime bar...Daime bar? (463 words)

I love nothing more than a nice bar of chocolate and when I saw this today in my local Nisa store I was unable to resist grabbing a bar which set me back 47p. The Packaging Long red oblong plastic wrapper and in large navy blue lettering on the front I'm told it's Daime and there are shards of chocolate pictured on there and I'm told that this bar contains 150Kcal (not bad eh?!). On the back of the wrapper the best before date is clearly stamped on, there are ingredients and allergy advice given, the size is stated (which in this case is 28g), a full nutritional run-down is given and so are contact details for Kraft (the manufacturers of this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Well worth hunting down. (284 words)

Dime bars are a very unique chocolate bar. There is no other chocolate bar out there that I have tried that is similar. This is quite unusual, normally when one brand makes a tasty well selling chocolate bar, the competeing brand makes a similar one, just like Cadburys caramel and the galaxy version. This hasn't happened yet with Dime, and they are relatively hard to come by, which surprises me when they are so popular. I have seen two sizes of Dime bars, the regular sized bar, costing around 45p, and the small bite sized bars, that come in multipacks. These are even more difficult to get hold of. The bar comes in red shiney wrapping that's easy to peel ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Daim Bar: I've got to bve a good boy (477 words)

On a recent trip to B+M I decided I was going to get my self a large stash of of chocolate bars, including: Fudges (6 of), Curly Wurly's (5 of), Daim (4 of), Twirls (7 of), all for less than £5, which lets be honest, was wonderfully brilliant, gotta love the budget stores in this time of financial hardship. This review is for the Daim, or more well known Dime bar (also the Dajm). Originally made by Marabou, a Swedish chocolate company in the mid 1950's after a similar bar was created in America by Heath. Marabou would would get a list of ingredients from Heath, before playing about in the labs with them before finally creating what we now know as the Dime/Daim ...  Read the complete review
