Advantages: nice light chocolate toffee bar for that quick snack

Disadvantages: very sweet sticks to the teeth

The Dime bar or Daim bar as it is known now is a crunchy butterscotch type toffee bar with chocolate covering.

The bar was rebranded to Daim in 2005 to bring it in line with the current European Regulation.
It originated in Sweden, Scandinavia to be precice by a swedish company called Marabou in 1953. Kraft foods took over around 2005. When the name dime changed to Daim.

What is it and what does it taste like? Its a crunchy bar of toffee with almonds in it covered in smooth swiss style chocolate. This is always a big plus in my book.

It tastes to me of Butterscotch but with little evidence of the almonds. The chocolate is smooth and creamy and the total combination works well together. When you snap into the bar the first thing that hits your nose is the stong buttery smell and the richness of the chocolate. Mouthwatering flavours.
Obviously being a toffee bar laced in chocolate it is going to be very sweet and in my view slightly salty too. There is a crunchy feel to the toffee and slightly sticky to the teeth feeling about it, but if you can get over that a pleasant experience.

This bar was likened to the Armadillo in one of the adverts with Harry Enfield. 'quoted' Daim smooth on the outside and crunchy on the inside unlike the armadillo which is smooth on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Not that I feel he had ever eaten an armadillo. Nether the less a funny advert which sold a lot of the chocolate bars.

There were other Daim bars made in dark chocolate, andmy research tells me that in 2007 a Limited Edition Cappuchino bar and a Limited Edition Forest Fruit bar were released onto the market although I did not see them. Pity really as they may have been good too.
Most of the ingredients are in swedish so I cannot tell you what went into them except lots of sugar.
hope you give them a try I love them and will go back for more.

Summary: good alround chocolate bar with a toffee twist
