Dairy Crest Clover Spread

Description: Dairy / Butter spread.

Newest Review: ... to the carton as it is on normal rectangular packets. This isn't a huge problem, however there have been a few occasions ... more

... where I've put the lid back on in a rush and managed to get margarine on the lid and then over the packet as well. The curvature of the lid definitely seems to have an effect on this as this rarely happens with other brands. Inside the Carton: When you take the lid off the butter for the first time there is a protective layer of thin paper. Despite finding it incredibly annoying when certain people in my house decide to use the butter but leave the paper in place, I can see the need for it in the first place. It is a ...more

Premium Review Dairy Crest Clover Spread: The authentic taste of butter? I think so. (701 words)

One of my guilty pleasures is hot toast with plenty of butter. However, we all know that butter isn't very good for us so I am always trying to find something that tastes like butter without the fat content. One of my more recent favourites has been Flora Buttery, however it hasn't been on offer as much as I'd like so I have been trying other brands. One such brand includes Clover, which I was surprised to realise that I have never tried it, especially as I found that I really liked it! Packaging: Unsurprisingly, like a lot of brands of margarine and butter, Clover comes in a yellow plastic carton. The one small difference that makes Clover stand ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Im so over clover. (553 words)

I always buy margarine for everyday use in my house. I love butter so much but I know if i bought it i would be a greedy guts and put far too much on my toast and jacket potatoes!! I also use margarine because i have always been under the impression that it has less saturated fats than butter and is better for you. I often like to have a little change with the margarine i use and last week bought a 1 kg tub of clover. I bought it because it was on offer and seemed like great value. I am not overly impressed with it though and will probably end up making a batch of welsh cakes in order to use it in cooking instead of spreading. The packaging The ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dairy Crest Clover Spread: Don't serve it to vegans (342 words)
by - written on 28/10/09 (Very useful, 30 readings)

I prefer to use butter for my baking and I use olive oil for cooking whenever possible. However, I do occasionally buy margarine because we have home baking sales at work and I like to bake a lot of different cakes and biscuits to take in. Margarine is good for this because it's less expensive than buying tons of butter. Also, one of my colleagues is vegan and I thought this margarine would be suitable for her. It isn't! What I didn't realise when I bought this Clover spread is that it is not vegan-friendly. It actually contains buttermilk and cream. I know I should have read the label before purchasing but I did just assume that all margarines are ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review We all love Clover! (594 words)

I'm not brand loyal in the slightest when it comes to what butter or spread I use, personally I do prefer Lurpak but I do find it gets so ridiculously hard in the fridge that I avoid it as I have real problems spreading it. I've had Clover for some weeks now thanks to a long running promotion in my local corner shop which actually makes it cheaper than even own brand supermarket spreads. It's not a spread I've eaten often but after these past few tubs I've realised it's actually one of the tastiest on the market. The colour is very appealing, and that's the first thing I noticed about it. Clover is a brighter, sunnier yellow than most other ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dairy Crest Clover Spread: So Rich .. So Creamy !! (739 words)

I always used to buy clover until I came across Flora one day and it was cheaper. I kept to clover as when living with my mum and dad that was all they ever used to buy and when I first moved in I assumed I would always stick to exactly the same brands. Clover comes in a bright yellow plastic tub - you can buy small tubs, medium and large 1kg tubs obviously varying in prices on size and places that you buy it. On the pull off plastic lid it says Clover - with a clover leaf up above it. Underneath this it says Churned for Taste. We are told a few things around the tub - on the sides and even underneath such as; Clover is perfect for the ...  Read the complete review
