Advantages: usefull for picnics , mild for children
Disadvantages: tasteless
Kraft Dairylee cheese triangles have been available for many years I remember been treated to them when I was a little girl 40 +++ years ago. Dairylee also comes in a spread 300g tubs and there are those Dairylee slices 400g pack 16 slices. Kraft has cut its slices into strips and sells them as dairylee strips. Dairylee now comes in the standard form and a light one light in fat only 7% fat in the light one.
At tescos the triangles cost 88p for a round box with 8 in that works out at 11p each £4.89p a kilo. The tubs cost 94p that works out at £4.00p a kilo. The slices are £1 84p thats £4.60 a kilo.
I have rarely eaten the cheese in the tubs or the slices so I shall stick to telling you about the triangles.
These cheese portions come in a round blue and yellow box, There Are 8 individual portions wrapped in foil with a blue dairylee cheese sticker on top in a box. The portions are shaped like a triangle (we have used them at school when we are doing a shape topic) to get them undone is an art do you peel them or cut the foil with a knife?
This cheese is really aimed at children. I am not ever so keen on this cheese as it is very very mild insipid no flavour. Young children will prefer it as it has that lack of flavour. The cheese in the tubs tastes the same
It is very creamy and smooth, easy to eat and very easy for a child to spread. (We sometimes use this cheese at school when getting our children to practice spreading skills). This cheese is a very pale creamy yellow.
These cheese triangles are made of cheese, butter and milk.
The nutritional values of this cheese are
Energy 217 kcalories.
Protein 8.0g
carbohydrates 7.0g
of which sugars 5.4g
fibre 0.0g
sodium 1.0g
calcium 570mg
So yes they are quite a good source of calcium for growing bones.
These cheese triangles are available at most food outlets so easy to procure for your little darlings. Do not rush out to buy any for me, but I expect I might purchase some when my grandson comes to tea. Fortunately he has outgrown his dairy intolerance. These triangles are great for decorating bday sandwiches and cheese biscuits. Stick a cocktail stick lengthways through the triangle and stick it into the bread or biscuit it looks like a sailing boat place these on a blue plate or piece of paper to represent the sea.
These triangles are useful as they are individually prewrapped to put in a picnic box.
One of the best uses of the this though ids the empty cheese box as it is round a super shape will make many wheels for those junk model cars and a round shape for making faces these little boxes are quite strong for art work. Thanks for reading Mary

- 02/06/05 I actually prefer Laughing Cow as they are softer, but will eat Dairylea. Kids always seem to love them.

- 02/06/05 As you say, the children like them because of the lack of taste.
