Advantages: Delicious, Spreadable

Disadvantages: Only come in a pack of 6, People might try to swap stuff with you

Dairylea has been around forever hasn't it? If you believe the old advert then kids will do anything for Dairylea - yeah right! Come on it's good but surely it's not that good? In case I got arrested I felt it not necessary to go and find a little kid and see if they'd swap their new T-rex for a triangle so I decided that I'd just have to take [the makers] Kraft Food's word for it, and leave you with my opinions.

So what is Dairylea? Trading in one form or another for a hundred years, Dairylea is a cream cheese made from natural cheese, milk and butter. With no artificial colours or preservatives it's actually very good for you and provides a good source of calcium.

Dairylea Triangles come in a circular cardboard box and contain six separately wrapped cheese triangles. The box is blue with the dairylea logo blazed across the front. The circular box has a lid that slips off from its slightly smaller base.

Each cheese triangle is individually wrapped in silver foil which is opened by pulling back a red seal.

The great thing about this product is that you can eat it a million and one ways. Personally I have it in sandwiches, on toast or on crackers (not all in one go because that would just be greedy!) but I've seen people have it on jacket potatoes, in mash and even just eat it on it's own!! In fact if a certain chocolate egg hadn't already taken the line 'How do you eat yours?' Kraft well may not be trying to get kids to part with their toys for a Dairylea.

So onto the real test, taste. Well you've probably already guessed I'm a real fan. The cheese is soft and even straight out of the fridge is easily spreadable and tastes lovely and creamy without that 'processed' taste so many similar products have. Obviously it tastes cheesy but it's the creaminess of the product that really gets your taste buds dancing. Unlike a lot of cheeses this product has little
smell.

Dairylea triangles are the original product of Dairylea but over the last ten years they have introduced more products into their portfolio, including: slices, dunkers, lunchables, spread and cheese strips - all of which are very nice too!

They still sell over 150 million a year and at around 80p it's not bad value. It's great for kids with just two of the triangles providing a fifth of the recommended daily allowance of calcium. The packs now state that they are 'even more creamier' - but I'd just like to mention that I've tried them and they are no different to how they have always been.

If you haven't tried them, then you must. If you have, I'm sure you didn't need this opinion to put them in your shopping basket next time.

I haven't been able to eat this stuff since a dodgy pack gave me really bad food poisoning. Even the sight of it now is off-putting!
