Advantages: Great for picnics. Plenty of cheese and crackers provided.

Disadvantages: Lot of fat per tub. Plastic tubs aren't recyclable.

I recently purchased these snack products when gathering food that could be taken out on a bird watching expedition (for me to eat, not the birds!). The ideal food for these kind of outdoor picnics has to be easy to transport, plentiful, tasty and something we can whip out and just snack on whenever we like. These small, sealed cheese and biscuit snack pots seemed the obvious choice. Although the product name and the cartoon cow logo suggests these might be for children and intended for school lunchboxes I do recommend them as a product suitable for snackoholics, serial picnickers, people who love soft cheese and Ritz biscuits or those that are just too knackered to prepare a meal. The product basically offers you a handful of small Ritz crackers which you can dip into a pot of soft DairyLea cheese.

The product comes as mini snack plastic pots which are oblong in shape. I bought a four pack of 46g size 'dunkers'. On one side of the tub Ritz crackers are housed, in the other smaller section is the soft cheese. Both sides are accessed by removing the layer of tin foil which protects them although there is an extra under layer of foil on the soft cheese side to provide extra freshness. The tub itself is very light and a nice size to fit into any Tupperware picnic box or kids' lunchbox. It measures around 5 ½ inches long and just under 2 ½ inches across. It's depth is nearly 1 ½ inches and the soft cheese is filled into its section right up to the top.

The Ritz crackers are miniaturised so they are about 1 inch in diameter. I counted my biscuits and there were 15 in all. Although they are small it actually looks like a lot. There is certainly enough cheese to dip into and cover each biscuit with a great dollop! You need not worry about some of the biscuits being left over dry.

The Ritz crackers are the genuine article and their familiar logo appears on the front of the cardboard packet of this product. The cracker's flavour isn't impaired by them having to be refrigerated - which isn't the norm for ordinary boxes of Ritz crackers. The Dairylea cheese is Kraft's standard original flavour and has a rich, salty undertone. Both foods are suitable for vegetarians and this is marked as such on the packet. Other information available is the full ingredients and nutritional values.

The brand claim that the product is made with the "goodness of milk and cheese - that goodness providing vitamins and minerals such as calcium and vitamin D. Dairy produce is of course great for building stronger bones and teeth - another point which is brandished on the packet and aimed at parents of growing children!

Calorific values state that each tub contains 6.4 grams of fat which sounds like a lot but have only 122 calories. The product has a warning that it contains milk, barley and possibly poppy seeds, sesame seeds, egg, soya and hazelnuts.

I'm very pleased with the dunkers overall. They are a great, portable picnic food. They offered a plentiful amount of crackers and cheese with an abundance of soft cheese available for the small biscuits. The taste was as I hoped it would be - rich, satisfying and delicious - certainly something that fills me up when it's cold outside. I would definitely recommend these for anyone looking for quick and easy picnic food. I also think all kids would love to eat these!
