Damski is made in the north part of the country, the lake region known as Mazury, specifically in the town of Mragowo - a resort for the well-off but also a farming area, the cheese is semi-soft and is smoked over coals, this is one cheese that the rind is unbelievably tasty as it seems to hold the smokyness more than the cheese. Generally speaking, I like French, English and Italian cheese but I do go out of my way to try as much cheese as possible, currently living in problem - I don't care much for the generally bland flavoured plasticky cheese with very little taste, though I have met the odd expat that prefers it to English cheese for it's meltable qualities. There are a few diamonds amongst the batch of rubbery cheeses, I wouldn't go as far as describing Damski like that but it is considerably better than the most common ones.
