... drink a bottle of Actimel every day for 2 weeks then you will begin to feel better in yourself but, from what I've heard, this tends to be hit or miss. A few people have come back and said that it makes a big difference but an equal number of people have said the opposite. For me, I was recommended to use it by the doctor. He told me that when you are ill, you're body is full of bad bacteria and as you recover you need to replace this with good bacteria. After about a week I definitely began to notice a difference, my b...more

Crowned ReviewDanone Actimel Original 0.1%: Fluxboxer Plays The Mad Scientist (1162 words)

When the bacterial culture in a yoghurt drink is registered as a trademark, it's hard not to ask questions when browsing the ingredients of a product like Actimel. Caution is an understandable approach to bacteria anyway (good or bad), particularly if it's about to be ingested; but what about that ® symbol? It seems to imply scientists created the very uniqueness of the bacteria and are trying to protect their mutation. So, is Actimel really Frankenstein in a pot? And when we're told that everything from GM food to aspirin are fine one day, only to be told they may be killing us the next: Are probiotic yoghurt drinks really that safe? INTRODUCING ...  Read the complete review

At a local trade show a few years ago, the wife and I noticed an Actimel stand in one of the halls. Now having seen the countless TV adverts with Actimel and how good it supposedly was for your gut and digestive system, and with both of us reaching that time of life where you start thinking 'every little helps', we decided to have a look to see what it was all about and came away with 6 bottles of Actimel to try out. For those of you who don't understand Actimel, the sales pitch that we had from the stand was that it is basically a drinking yogurt which comes in a little 100ml bottle where you are meant to drink one bottle a day. It is a 'one-shot' bottle as ...  Read the complete review

Danone Actimel Original 0.1%: Mmmm Danone? (477 words)

We've all seen the "Mmmmm Danone!" adverts on the telly but the question is, does Danone Actimel actually work? Or is it a clever plot to trick us all into handing over our cash for a yoghurty drink that doesn't do any good? I was a little dubious at first I must admit, but one day whilst doing my weekly shop I decided to bite the bullet and bung some in my trolley. There are 10 different flavours of Actimel: Blueberry, Cherry, Coconut, Multifruit, Orange, Raspberry, Strawberry, Vanilla and Original. There's also 4 fat free flavours: Original, Peach and Mango, Raspberry and Strawberry, all of which are 0.1% fat, so not really fat free but darn well ...  Read the complete review

My husband and I were out and about at an exhibition (the Ideal Home to be exact and was about 2 or 3 years ago) and we came across an Actimel stand which was giving away 6 little bottles of Actimel to each person. I had seen Actimel advertised a fair bit on the TV and I am always around for a bit of a freebie at these sort of places so we ended up with 12 bottles between us. I was told by one of the Acitmel representatives who was giving the bottles away that the way Actimel works is that the natural probiotics in this product are live micro-organisms which help the immune system to cope with illness and colds when the come along and will help to fight off ...  Read the complete review

Danone Actimel Original 0.1%: Tastes lovely but I didn't feel any different! (530 words)

I decided to start drinking Actimel last winter. I'd just suffered from a series of colds in very quick succession and was feeling extremely run-down with no energy at all. I'd seen the Actimel advert claiming that it would make you feel awesome, or your money back!! I figured I'd give it a go, and if it didn't work I'd just get my money back. I managed to find these at Asda for a special offer price of £1.28 for a pack of 8 which I found to be a really good price, and have seen them a lot more expensive elsewhere, roughly about £3 for 8. I'd never taken a probiotic drink before, and I didn't particularly like yoghurt so I wasn't expecting to like it much but ...  Read the complete review
