Whenever I buy yoghurts, more often than not I want to try something new. There's been one particular yoghurt I was keen on trying for quite a while though somehow never seemed to get round to purchasing. Though last week I finally bought the Danone Activia Intensely Creamy yoghurts.
The thing that always attracted me to this four pack of yoghurts is the shape of the pot. Most yoghurt pots are square shaped, or circular. However this one was more like a cup - a stumpy, wide curved pot a little like a bowl. The lid itself was made of foil, unlike the usual plastic ones, with its sides peeled over the rim of the top reminding me of milk bottle tops. Around these four exciting pots there is a cardboard sleeve to keep them together. This has a main green colour, typical to the Activia range. On the front, under the gold 'Intensely Creamy' banner, there is a picture of strawberries, a luscious image sitting on a bed of pink cream, luring you closer. There is no doubt about it - this definitely seemed appealing!
I'd tried several different yoghurts in the Activia range, but none from the selection of Intensely Creamy products. Removing a pot out of the pack, I sat myself down to inspect. After I peeled off the foil lid with ease, I was greeted by a deliciously sweet strawberry aroma. It was quite strong and most appetising. The pots themselves are clear so beforehand I could see the delicious pale pink yoghurt, but when I could see it properly, it turned out to be even more delightful to look at - a soft but powerful baby pink colour. It all seemed so amazing, I couldn't wait to try!
Swooping my spoon down I shovelled some of the yoghurt into my mouth. Straight away I was filled with a deliciously spectacular and sweet strawberry sensation. The yoghurt itself did live up to its name too; its probably one of the creamiest yoghurts I have ever came across. Within the yoghurt you will find real fruit pieces. These are not too big, but still visible within the yoghurt, and are very juicy too. I love having real pieces of strawberry in my yoghurts so this was a delight.
The yoghurt was so delicious, incredibly creamy indeed, that not for a second did I expect this to be at all healthy. You will find a nutritional table on the back of the cardboard label giving you all the necessary information if you wish to read about what you are eating. I had a look at this, and discovered that each 120g serving contains 117 calories and 15.1g sugars, as well as 3.6g fat. I must say, I was incredibly surprised with those figures, but very pleased! Each yoghurt also provides 20% of an adult's RDA of calcium.
This yoghurt is not only delicious, but practical too. It's a nice little size to pop into a lunch box to be taken with you on the go. The pot can also be washed and reused after the yoghurt has been consumed as it is not sharp at all and is a great shape too. Because its flavour is not too complicated, it is also ideal for eating with other things too, such as weetabix, bran flakes and various berry fruits. Whilst it is delicious on its own, it is definitely a yoghurt I would experiment with.
I paid just £1.80 from Tesco for this yoghurt pack, which means that each pot is just 45p. Considering say a Muller Light can cost around 55p, that is quite good! Compared to other yoghurts, it is quite cheap, and a lot healthier too. It is a lot more versatile and indeed more delicious. This is definitely preferred over many yoghurts with me, but I would not say it is my favourite Activia option.
This is certainly a delicious yoghurt and I cannot believe it has taken me this long to try it! I will most certainly be trying the other options in the range soon, starting with the peach one I think. If you are in your local supermarket, make sure you give this one a look as it is most certainly not worth missing!

- 17/10/09 They are delicious. I got 16 pots at Tesco last week for £1.97 a BOGOF offer on the eight packs. This week though they are not so generous, but even so I believe each pot works out at about 30p. Super reveiw. |

- 17/10/09 I always query activia things as I'm not supposed to have them because I've had my gallbladder out. Noone seems to be able to shed any light on why not... |
