Advantages: They taste ok, on offer
Disadvantages: expensive, not as good as muller layers, nutrition
In order to beat the bloat I've been trying various different products which I thought might have helped me. One brand I've been sampling in the past few months is Activia! One of the products I've been "lucky" enough to sample is the raspberry fruit layer yoghurt.
These can be found in all supermarkets, including Asda, Sainsbury and Tesco. We tend to buy ours from Tesco now though but this is simply because it is closest to us! They can be found in the yoghurt aisle alongside the yoghurts such as Muller Light and Shape. They are on the middle shelf in my local Tesco so I assume they will be in the same place in every one but its worth having a little look about.
They come in packets of 4, and each yoghurt weighs 125g. This isn't a huge amount of yoghurt but it is pretty average for the dairy treat! The 4 pack costs £1.56 normally however at the moment there is an offer on and you can get twp packets for only £3. This is only a saving of 12p but if you are watching the pennies then it is worth taking advantage of.
The 4 yoghurts come held together in a cardboard outer packaging. The packaging is a green colour which reminds me of luscious fresh green grass. This adds to the natural feeling of the product. On the cardboard packaging there is lots of product information as well as some delicious little pictures of juicy red raspberries. There is also a picture of a spoon filled with a layer of red syrup with some creamy looking yoghurt on the top! The pictures are very appealing. The packaging does have a very natural feel to it and probably would appeal to those on a diet. The light green of the wrapper provides a light and airy feel to it too and overall the packaging is very tempting!
The pots are made of plastic and follow the same pattern as the outer cardboard packet. The lid is made of a special foil which seems different to other yoghurts. It peels back really easily and doesn't spray you with too much yoghurt, in fact none at all. Each pot has its own picture of the raspberries and yoghurt spoon on them! This is really appealing.
The lids can be removed easily and the yoghurt is not up to the brim therefore none is left behind on the lid, unless they have been shaken that is. First of all you see the delicious looking white yoghurt. However it is not plain white and there is a slight red tinge to it. This is from the compot at the bottom seeping up from below! There is no smell at all coming from the yoghurt which wasn't too promising.
The cool yoghurt on top surprisingly tastes like vanilla which is odd because it is natural yoghurt and not vanilla flavoured at all. It definitely has a creaminess to it as well as a lovely sweetness. The raspberry layer below is very sticky and syrupy however it does contain little lumps and seeds too. The raspberry flavour is very strong but gorgeous. Mixed together it provides a lovely creamy raspberry yoghurt.
Overall I did enjoy them but they weren't the best and not my favourite fruity yoghurts. I think I will be sticking to Muller in terms of taste. They didn't help my bloating at all either.
One pot of this yoghurt contains 113 calories and 3.5g fat. This isn't very good at all. I'd much prefer a 175g pot of Muller layers for only 90 calories.
They are worth a try especially when found on offer.
