Being a Scottish girl it seems a bit typical of me to say that I like shortbread but it is true that it is one of the things that I see as a home comfort while being away. Through my family we have tried so many different shortbread brands but not all have that nice taste whereas my mother has always told me that Dean's make the best shortbread and I do have to agree with her statement. Another close runner up are the Border company biscuits they are really creamy biscuits but Dean's seem traditional and make it like nobody else does. Shortbread seems to be a popular biscuit at Christmas and New Year time. I often have some in my house and I often buy some to give as gifts to others. Some years I have even made them. This year I wanted a small gift to give as a token to out elderly next door neighbours When in tesco I saw some boxes of Deans shortcake they only cost about £1. I thought about it and it seemed the ideal little something to give not expensive or big to be an embarrassment just a small gift a gesture of goodwill.
