 ... attractive and has a pretty forest green stripe framing a view of oats growing in the countryside with rolling fields and mature trees lining up in the distance. There are some fluffy clouds too, and the packaging makes you think that these oatcakes are going to be fresh. Inside the box the oatcakes look delicious. They are triangular in shape but solid and chunky. They have a delicious wholesome flavour which is more like a really wholemeal Hovis digestive but much more rustic and the only ingredients are locally grown oats...more

I was putting together an order from Waitrose when I stumbled across these oatcakes by chance. I was actually looking to see if they did the lovely ones from Orkney called Stockan and Garden which I reviewed last week, but saw these and thought I would give them a try. These are made in Ireland and the factory where they are produced is in the town of Castledawson which is in County Derry. It is a family business and the owner is called Robert Ditty and he is the third generation of bakers to work in the company which has been making oatcakes for over 40 years.
