Advantages: Your options are endless

Disadvantages: May be a little bland on their own...

Dolmio Bolognese Sauce is another one of those products that get me all excited, when they are put on offer at my local Morrisons.

Even my other half, (who sleep walks most of the time) knows this. If he's out doing the grocery shop on his own and see's a bright yellow tag displayed next to these heavenly jars, then his internal alarm starts ringing, alerting him for the promotion he'll get in my books for picking up at least 10 of these jars at a cute price.

Okay, now the important stuff, why are these jars such an important part of my domestic life?

Well to put quite simply, you can cook up tons of stuff this bolognese sauce and because it's a Dolmio product, you don't have to worry about how it's going to taste because it always turns out good.

Not only do I use it with the mince for spagetti bolognese, but for lagsania, pasta and even curries. Of course I add some of my own spices to it, but the point is without this sauce I wouldn't have a base to work on.

My favourite way of working with this sauce is to start of by frying 2 large chopped onions in a little oil then adding a couple of chopped cloves of garlic and then stirring in the Dolmio sauce. I put 1lb of mince to brown in a separately then add that in once it's done.

Instead of adding mince in you could cut your favourite veg into chunks and add that to the sauce. You can then use this to make a vegetable lagsania. Or you could boil some pasta, add to the sauce and mince then drain a can of sweetcorn and stir it in once everything has cooled down. Or you could add boneless chicken cubes instead of the mince.

Anyway whatever you do the possibilities are endless. So just experiment and enjoy. And keep a stock of these jars at hand.

Summary: Let your imagination run wild

I'm not really a fan of the Dolmio sauces - I'd rather use passata as a base for my sauces, or make from scratch. You make it sound very tasty though, Caroline xx
