Advantages: Quick and easy to use, good price, lovely tangy flavour

Disadvantages: Not as good as home made

Dolmio sauces are pretty good value at the moment, I know its fairly easy to create your own but sometimes when you don't have the time, inclination or ingredients it is great to have a lovely sauce at your fingertips, this is just such a sauce. It is perfect for Spaghetti Bolognese or Lasagne.

The Dolmio sauce comes in a 500g jar, with a dark green label, it is easily recognisable and its easy to see what your getting too, with the lovely rich sauce easily visible.

The sauce is available at any supermarket and most corner shops, and generally there are some really good offers on. At the moment you can buy a jar for £1.70 or 2 for £3 at Tescos. This is good value as a jar can easily make enough sauce for pasta for 4-6 people. You can also buy 320g jars for £1.29 and a 750g jar for £2.06.

When you dollop the sauce out of the jar into the pan you see a rich dark red sauce, you can smell the slightly acidic aroma of the sauce, it is tangy with a smallof herbs, it is nice and thick too, with bits of tomato which is lovely as you want the sauce to smother your mince and pasta when cooking to ensure the flavour seeps through.

There is only 1.1g of fat in a 100g serving and there are only 53 calories in such a serving.

Generally I use this for Spaghetti Bolognese by heating some mince and browning it, with some chopped onions and a smashed clove of garlic, once the flavours have started to set and you can smell the garlic, pour the sauce over the mince and really mix it in, then allow this to heat for a good 30 minutes, cover if possible to seal the flavours in, cook some spaghetti when you have about 10 minutes left and add the spaghetti to the sauce and really cover it, add some basil leaves at the last moment and enjoy.

Just for your information, there is also an Organic Bolognese Sauce, Original Light Bolognese Sauce, and extra onion and garlic sauce for bolognese.

I love the tangy taste it is actually really nice without the mince too simply with pasta, but with the mince its an absolute winner, it is quality and better than a lot of the own brand sauces I've had, although not quite as good as a patient home made sauce, its good value with 2 for £3, looks good and is the best in brand, its also pretty good for you so enjoy.

Summary: A Nice choice for people who get home late
