Advantages: cheap and easy

Disadvantages: ?

I have been known to use a Dolmio creamy carbonara stir in sauce. Usually after a hard day at work, nothing much easier than cooking a pan of pasta and stirring in a pot of sauce.

These small 150 pots of sauce come in various flavours, Sun dried tomato
Roasted vegetable, Sweet pepper, Smoky bacon & tomato, Tomato & roasted garlic, spicy pepperoni and tomato and creamy Carbonara I like this carbonara one and have used some others of the others too.

These sauces cost £1,23p for a pot a Tesco’s today.
These sauces come in a short plastic tub with a foil lid; they usually have good long use by dates printed on them so are useful to have in the store cupboard

In one of these tubs there is just enough sauce for a meal for two people, adequate sauce to cover 150g of pasta.
So come and have lunch with me I will make one of these up. First I cook pasta about 10 minutes, drain the pasta and just stir in this sauce, I serve the meal. You can eat yours just like that or I have some cheddar cheese to put on it. I have plenty of lettuce and tomatoes so shall we have a side salad too? Garlic bread no I have not got any garlic to make it, sorry.

It tastes quite good. The creamy carbonara sauce coats the pasta its quite I can taste and see small pieces of ham in it I can taste the cheese too. I quite like this for an everyday meal.
If I was only cooking for one I could use half a tub and save the rest in the fridge for 3 days. Alternatively make up the whole lot and freeze half.
The ingredients in this dolmio carbonara sauce are :
Water, Cream (26%), Ham (10%), Cheddar Cheese (8%), Onion, Modified Starch, Medium Fat Hard Cheese (3%), Milk Proteins, Salt, Garlic, Spices.
These sauces are free from artificial preservatives , colour, flavour contain 181 kcal, 5.5g protein, 15.8g fat per 100g
I think if you are at uni this could be a fairly cheap meal

Pot of sauce £1.15 value pasta 19 p for 500g (enough for 2 pots) so a meal for about 60p per person can’t be bad.

You could probable use this sauce as a pizza topping, a cheat pizza put some on a slice of bread sprinkle some cheese over the top and grill till the cheese melts.

Mm have I got some for lunch today ?

Summary: easy quite tasty meal
